Little math now so Somalias population is now at 16,5 million people ( likely undercounted but lets stick to it). In Ethiopia, we are 6% of the population. As of now ethiopias population is 117 million people which makes the Somali portion about 7 million ( likely undercounted too but lets stick to it). In Kenya there is 2,78 million maryooleys but lets round it up to 3 mil due to undercount again. All in all there is 26.5 million geeljires running around, a measly amount.

With the current growth and fertility rate there will be twice as much geeljires in 20 years More fanaxs, more farodheers, more discussions regarding mehr, relationships and our geopolitical identity ( race ). Im ecstatic, can’t wait for this.

This is just in 20 years time, imagine furtherOf course an increase in number will cause problems for us, but honestly, it will not be something unbeatable. The more the merrier my friends.

To sustain our population growth, I would make our nomads more sedentary make them practise agro-pastoralism and ban migrations to the cities urbanization is too high in my opinion in Somalia. Also make internet more expensive or severely monitore it. No need to on tiktok when you live on a shack.

I would be surprised if Kenya had more than 3 million Somalis.

If you think about it, somali galbeed is at least 30-40% of Ethiopia’s total land mass. It’s pretty much all of eastern Ethiopia mashallah

Somalia already has a very young population despite its small size population-wise.

However, I think any rapid population growth can quickly become a disaster if we don’t see equally rapid improvements back home. Because we will almost be certainly be seeing additional strain on the meagre public services.

You can't feed the ones alive today.

Which is why we need to transform our agricultural practises ( more farming and fishing, chicken farms and less grazing) and protect/repair our environment.

Optimism is key in this regard and should never be abandoned. If you got money for it you should plant trees back home.

This is what it scares me about the growth, it could be a possibility but also cause some problems. Im optimistic in that regard that our improvement will be fueled by population growth. A lot has changed in 10 years, we will see what happens in 10 years time.

A few years ago when I was in Puntland and asked people my age (early 20s back then) how many siblings they had. Almost all of them had like 8 siblings, crazy shit.

I have wanted to discuss in politcs or fkd section that future somali politics will vastly differ from what we see today because of how different the growth rates are for different clans.

Clans that are more urbanised, educated will have fewer children then those who are not. This could even change politics between subclans.

It may go down from 9/8/7 to like 5 or 4 maybe 3, but still much higher than the West where 1 or max 2 is the norm.

Anything above 2 (3, 4), the population will continue to grow.
