al-Mu'tamid المعتمد
عِشْ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ
It is well known in the tradition that prior to the advent of our Prophet ﷺ, they used to threaten the people, saying, 'A Prophet will be sent soon. His day is at hand. We shall follow him and kill you by his aid, as ‘Ad and Iram perished.' These people are workers of unrighteousness, practiced deceit, and continue to do so until this day, waiting and waiting until their promised Messiah comes.
Similarly, today the days have become darker, and with this, the people have become desperate. Instead of standing up themselves, they make edits about al-Mahdi, waiting for his arrival. It reminds me of a hadith:
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever among you sees evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot do so, then with his tongue. If he cannot do so, then with his heart, which is the weakest level of faith.”

I believe we are in a mix between the middle and final stage.
