Yes, but these gonna take time, 5-7 years or so. That project is kinda faster. Beside that desalination make the ocean more salty.Or we can build a few of these bad boys.
It will cost us a arm and a leg, but we can achieve this. Lower the nomads, attract the majority to cities. This should end our drought issues.

Are they sold to general consumer? I would actually buy a few and send it to GalguduudWe could opt for these in the meantime.
They are mobile, offgrid solar powered and easily installed.

Thanks. Very helpful. No direct prices but I did ask for a quote

The government should invest in solar energy + desalination. They would work in tandem solving both water and energy issues. Would provide work and also an export industry which we need for access to foreign currency
If there only was a way to combine cheap off-grid solar desalination and an heat pump for residential cooling and hot water.
That product would sell fast in Somalia.
we need to get some diaspora genius’s on it. They can design and build prototypes, which will be tested in the motherland. Imagine being the legend that has been part of the lasting efforts against the droughts and famines.
Why don't we just search for them ourselves. If one city get this service. The rest will follow suit, in this case we can thank god for our copy and paste culture. The beauty about Somalia is that you don't have to worry about patents. Someone just needs to build it.
Unfortunately I don't have the brains or the funds to pull this off.
Wish there was some crowd funding platform for projects like this in Somalia where we could get equity in return for funding.
However instead of funding a single start-up like Kickstarter... It's a competition like the XPrize.
Thousands investors pledge $100 to $10k
Anyone can compete and the top 10 designs get some initial funding for prototypes & the final winner gets the initial seed funding they need for small scale production.
Investors get equity in the winning company (10-30% and runner ups (1-5%)
Someone build a blockchain/ DAO app for this please![]()
I was thinking of canal or pipes from Kenya nd Uganda. But why not import large amount of water it would be cheaper if we established facilities there. These plenty of water in Jubba. Just move everyone there and build a new capital city.
A lot cheaper than desalination plants ($1/m3) and imported water ($10+/m3).
You also need water for agriculture and livestock so anything more than 10 cents per cubic meter is too expensive.
The other alternative option is to pipe water or build a canal from our neighbors... Will take tens of billions of dollars....
