As a political force on the global stage, the concept of the Ummah is dead. It's been dead since the Arab revolt against the Ottomans, where Arab leaders chose English and French masters over backing the Ottomans. You can argue they had all rights to govern themselves and I agree. However the fools made a deal with cold blood animals that neither cared if they lived or died. Their lands were butchered and the modern boarders were formed where conflict would be endless.

Was it wort it?

I look around everyday I contemplate what if the men that made deals with the west had not gained power. What if the destructive ideology of wahabbism had not taken a strangle hold over Arabia. What would the world look like. Perhaps not utopian but I wager it has to better than where we are now.

The world would still look the same because the Ottoman empire was gonna be divided up by Europeans powers whether Arabs liked it or not.

Europeans lost to the weakest form of Turkey under Mustafa Kemal. While the death of the Ottomans was 100% going to happen I wonder if the Arab states couldn't get a better deal than the one they got.

This isn't to bash the Arabs. They have a right to self governance but trust the UK and Frace is a surefire way to messing your region up.

Mustafa Kemal was one of the greatest leaders, he’s the only reason that Turkey wasn’t divided up.

Honestly, the Arab revolt was insignificant outside of the Hijaz. Most Arabs fought with the Ottomans, even 1/3rd of Mustafa Kemal’s army was Arab and he was fighting for Turkish independence lol.

Lmao yeah Mustafa Kemal. My bad.

I wouldn't say purely insignificant since the independence of Hijaz lead to the rise of house of Saud. While the common Arab would've fought for the Ottomans it was cleat that elite saw more to gain in aiding the French and Britain to destabilize the empire.

One of the reasons for the start of the Arab Revolt was that the British deceived Sharif Hussein that if he overthrew the Ottomans, he would rule the entire Arabian Peninsula and would be king of everything from the Levant to Iraq, but in the end they did not give him power and cooperated with King Abdul Aziz, so the latter expanded until he became king of Saudi Arabia until the family was exiled. But his sons became rulers: the first of Syria, the second of Iraq, and the third king of Jordan

Now only Jordan remains. The Iraqi branch was overthrow and Syrian branch collapsed.

Although there are Arabs, such as the Emirate of Al-Rashid, who allied with the Turks against King Abdul Aziz, the relationship between the Arabs and the Turks in general is complex. In fact they both hate each other, and do not forget that the Turks were the main reasons for the defeat of the first Saudi state and the end of their rule, and Prince Abdullah bin Saud was executed
