The more I have read about post-independent Somali history. We were doomed for a war the minute Siyaad took office. The man had no idea what he was doing and had a penchant for implementing policies that made him look good but did not improve anything for the average Somali.
A good example is the writing script. It is a very commendable achievement but did nothing to change our living standards. The Ogaden War was supposed to be his big flashy stunt but backfired when the USSR sided with Cuba and decided to cut off aid to Somalia.
Whereas Aden Adde and Sharmarke had to create a new justice system, train a generation of skilled professionals etc.
