A lot of Somali parents tend to name their kids based on their firsts kids name. So if the first child was named abdihebel then all the other males will get named abdis.

Some families also like to name their children with names that start with the same letter.

What's the Abdi stereotype? It's a perfectly normal (and unique to Somalis) name. Like everyone here, I have 5 Abdis in my immediate family and hundreds in my extended.
