Wardey was a minor Oromo sub-group that lived on the margins of Somalia. In 1842, these people -- who were marginal in spatial occupation and demographic size -- were defeated and pushed out by Darood clansmen. Some people remained, but were very small today, existing as mere genetic influence on individuals, not as a separate people with an identity or having a community in Somalia proper.

Wardey do exist as a people, having maybe 100,000 people living outside Somalia. If an individual in the south suddenly has some minor Ethiopian showing up, then most likely that is Wardey. Some more fighting came after this and Oromo slaves came of this.

These ancient oxen feasts existed until pretty recently when the peace was brokered (really a defeat for the Oromos) with 750 cattle eating:

This is something that goes back to Nubia and we see evidence of that even in ancient Somalis in the north.

Appreciate the answer from everybody. Seems to me they’re Somalicized oromos who fall under Somali clan system . Few in number most likely 100,000 of them of left on the other side of the tana river .
