The first majority of Somalis want and prefer Islamic principles to the backward pagan Somali culture. Also FYI, Sufis are Muslims, they were trying to implement the veil for centuries but were not successful as the Wahabbis.
Implement? You mean force?
Wearing Hijab & Niqab is compulsory in Islam, thank Wahabbis for implementing Islamic orthodoxy in a country of Muslims.
niqab isn’t wajib you extremist. Hijab is wajib but nobody can force you or haras you for not wearing one.

In a perfect Islamic country, women will and should be punished for not wearing Hijab baayo.
Do you see that happening in Somalia? :kanyehmm:

To be truthful, it’s already frowned upon and socially non-accepted today. But I personally have a hard time seeing it being implemented legally, much less fully implementation of shariah

Somalia is not a perfect Muslim country. Many Somalis still prefer their jungle Xeer to Islamic law but as you said it's already socially unacceptable for Somali women to walk in the streets of Somalia without Hijab.

Using "wahhabism" as a cover for attacking core Islamic principles such as the Hijab does not fool anyone.
Alhamdulilah for "Wahabbism" Aka Salafism. Many of my people back home have been recently embracing it on a great level and minimising the the Sufi heretics :rejoice::rejoice:

They've fallen for the propaganda against the noble creed of Salafism not knowing that it does not differ from the creed of any of the former Prophets or Messengers. It outlines the fundamental principles of the Salafi methodology, demonstrating how it is in fact the path which has beer ordained to be followed in the Qur'an.

This forum is a safespot for Gaalo and Jahils on the brink of Kufr who follow their whims to cry and fantasise of what will never be :mjlol:

Really puts a smile on my face

somali women could choose whether or not they wanted to wear hijab
Siad barre (LA) state enforced secularism = muh freedom!!1!!1!

A 1000 years of Sufism wiped out by some 200 year old extremist ideology that takfirs anyone who doesn't agree with it.
Sufism wasn't the majority ideology in somalia. Majority of somalis were sunni who rejected sufi spirituality. Cope

I see literal 1 year old baby girls wearing hijab here it's so perverted and messed up.
and? youre acting like the 1 year old girl is being preyed upon by men. Their mothers give them hijabs because they think it looks nice.

Also somalia has lower rape rates than your dream secular countries like Sweden, south africa, england, etc.

just say youre a murtad who hates islam

To be honest regarding attire you can wear what you like but there are consequences. Though when I visited as a teenager years ago I got away without wearing the hijab. Reason being, I had armed guards that could shoot on sight and when you are related to those in power you can get away with anything.

It's a sad reality. There are a set of rules for thee but not me. It's not fair. Generally, had I been wiser and less stubborn I would have just blended in with the locals.

Evils of wahhabism doesn’t have anything to do with the sunnah of niqab or modesty which are core parts of our religion

Though I would say that the case of the one year old is not only uncomfortable but a possible choking hazard. I understand that it's nicer to train kids in childhood to wear it to get them acclimated (as it gets harder the later you start) but it isn't required until after puberty. Most Arabs I know don't put toddlers in one. Somalis are next level. I guess that's what happens when you're new to it. Dogmatism reigns supreme. Most adapted post-civil war. They can blame Siyaad for barring it but I don't recall my grandmothers having worn a head covering until after they were married. As per the cultural custom of the time. Emphasis on culture I didn't say it was the religious way.
