I’m not particularly versed in PL politics so someone will have to correct me if I’m wrong but I assume if Deni can’t get 1m1v elections in time, he’s not going to win re-election as the parliamentary elections tend to favour non-incumbents. Also Ciise is set for the next presidency anyway. Unless Deni can get an extension to get these elections ready for a presidential/parliamentary one, which seems unlikely given Karaash’s statement and many formerly allied Deni politicians being against any extension beyond the January date for the next election.

1. Puntland will not have any presidential election. The president will be elected by the parliament.
2. Puntland can definitely hold parliamentary elections in 9 months if we use closed list proportional representation where people vote for a party based on who is on their party list.

Anyone who tells you that Puntland can't hold parliamentary elections by Jan 2024 is lying.
There is no need for an extension.

It definitely cannot happen in 9 months, when you look at how the registration for the local elections is going on at a turtle pace.

As for the parliamentary elections which will eventually lead to the choosing of the president, it's a huge event that needs general consensus from all stakeholders involved and so far none are ready for it. For example, this is what the former president of Puntland Gaas said in October last year:

Is the 1M1V election a good thing? Absolutely. Is it needed? Yes. But we are talking about local elections. 1M1V for the 2024 presidential election is not possible.
