Video documentary ideas for Somaliland

Hey everyone, I’m going to be going to Somaliland this summer and was planning on making a video documentary about the after effects of the fire, but then I thought there are probably other things I can report on. My question is, is there anything you guys think the world should know about Somaliland or anything in particular you guys would like to see be reported on.

If you can, please help a few of single mothers who lost their belongings there. Documentary won't do any good if your efforts aren't make a difference in people's lives. Perhaps you can focus on the most needy folks there who have been affected by the fire. You can then do a fundraising for them. Good luck.

Try finding diaspora Somalis who have set up businesses and ask them some questions about how they started, what would they do different if the could start over again and what opportunities are there for diasporas who want to come back and start their own thing.

Something about the environment especially water, the dry rivers, or conservation efforts already there/that are needed. Water scarcity is a big problem

This is a really good idea.

I was thinking about this aswell. It seems like a really great idea I’ll look into it.

These are few topics you can look into

1. Deforestation and ways to prevent it.
2. Inflation
3. The housing market specially in big cities
4. Interview with the legend himself Hadraawi
5. The economic disparities between Eastern and Western States.
6. The good and bad of Remittances flow

Somaliland has forests?
Yes, Somaliland had forests. It’s not all desert in the north. Sanaag in particular had forests.
Over a 15-year period of analysis, from 1988–2003, there was a 52% loss of forest and a 40% loss of grassland, and a 370% increase in bare land. Soil erosion due to weather and human activities and clearing of wood and brush for such uses as charcoal and fuel are issues leading to a degradation of the environment.
Same thing is happening in Jubaland where trees are being cutdown to use as charcoal.

Simply better.

Do you think it is possible to get back the 52%?
