:whoa: The man is an expert in meditation and consciousness.

Learning from his teaches doesn’t take away from your deen it only adds to your piggy bang of knowledge.

When’s the last time you made salaat without your mind wondering and losing focus?

If you have problem making salaat because of back problems, shouldn’t it be wise to do stretches, seek a chiropractor or learn some yoga?

Enhancing yourself in salaat starts with consciousness and deep focus.

Don’t be a Neef by rejecting little golden nuggets along the way.

Guys, depression is a real thing and affects some people more in winter because of the lack of sunlight. If you feel sad, unmotivated etc, buy a bright lamp, set it in your living room and sit near it for a while. Don’t stare into it but read a book beside it or something. And of course see a doctor. There’s nothing embarrassing or weird talking about how you feel.

Praise be to Allaah.

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever imitates a people is one of them.’” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Libaas, 3512. Al-Albaani said in Saheeh Abi Dawood, (it is) hasan saheeh. No. 3401).

Al-Munaawi and al-‘Alqami said: i.e., dressing as they dress, following their way of life in clothes and some of the things they do.

Al-Qaari said: i.e., whoever imitates the kuffaar, such as in how one dresses, etc., or imitates the evil and immoral people, or the Sufis or the righteous, is one of the people whom he imitates, whether they are good or bad.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said in al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem: Imaam Ahmad and others quoted this hadeeth as evidence. This hadeeth at the very least implies that it is haraam to imitate them, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“... And if any amongst you takes them [Jews and Christians] as Awliyaa’ [friends, helpers]), then surely, he is one of them…”

[al-Maa’idah 5:51]

This is similar to the view of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr who said: “Whoever settles in the land of the mushrikeen and celebrates their Nawroz (new year) and Mahrajaan (festival) and imitates them until he dies will be gathered with them on the Day of Resurrection.” This may be interpreted as referring to absolute imitation which implies kufr and as meaning that imitation in part is therefore haraam; or it may be interpreted as meaning that he is one of them to the extent that he imitates them, whether it is in ideas of kufr, sin or partaking in a ritual. It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade imitating the non-Arabs and said, “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” This was also mentioned by al-Qaadi Abu Ya’laa. This was quoted by more than one of the scholars to show that it is makrooh to imitate forms of dress of the non-Muslims which are not known among the Muslims.

See ‘Awn al-Ma’bood Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood.

Imitating the kuffaar falls into two categories:

Imitation that is haraam and imitation that is permitted:

The first type is imitation that is haraam: this means knowingly doing things that are unique characteristics of the religion of the kuffaar and that have not been referred to in our religion. This is haraam and it may be a major sin; in some cases a person may even become a kaafir by doing that, according to the evidence, whether a person does that because he agrees with the kuffaar, or because of his whims and desires, or because of some specious arguments which make him feel that doing it will being him benefit in this world and the next. If it is asked, is the one who does that out of ignorance a sinner, such as one who celebrates Christmas? The answer is that the one who is ignorant is not a sinner because he was unaware, but he has to be told, and if he persists he becomes a sinner.

The second type is imitation that is permissible. This means doing something which is not originally taken from the kuffaar, but the kuffaar do it too. This does not involve a prohibition on resembling them, but one may miss out on the benefits of differing from them.

Imitating or resembling the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) and others with regard to worldly matters is permissible only when the following conditions are met:

1 – That should not be any of their traditions or rituals by which they are distinguished.

2 – That should not be part of their religion. A matter can be proven to be part of their religion though a trustworthy source, such as an aayah of the Qur’aan or a hadeeth of His Messenger, or via well-established reports, such as the prostration of greeting which was permitted to the previous nations.

3 – That should not be anything in Islam which refers specifically to that matter. If there is a specific reference in Islam, either approving or disapproving of it, then we must follow what our religion says about it.

4 – This resemblance should not lead to going against any of the commands of sharee’ah.

5 – That should not involve celebrating any of their festivals.

6 – The resemblance should be only according to what is needed, and no more.

Stop abusing the fucking smileys.

Yes, by all means it's forbidden to swear. (reasoning and logic is in the last of the answer).

Why shouldn't people swear?

Because Allah said in Quran:

Sahih International

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

Surat Al-Ĥujurāt - 11

but if a person swears and no one cares is it still haram to say 'f*** you' for example.

Yes, it's still haraam, regardless of whether he care or doesn't. swearing is not only a matter between two people, it's a bad behaviour that Allah forbade, so we shouldn't do it.

You shouldn't swear a muslim, as the hadith says:

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "Reviling a Muslim is Fusuq (disobedience of Allah) and killing him is (tantamount to) disbelief."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Riyad as-Salihin - 1559.

And you shouldn't swear a non-muslim, or what they worship, as Allah says:

Sahih International

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

Surat Al-'An`ām - 108.

Although the translation says "And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah", which means don't swear what non-muslims worship, the Ayah is also understood as "And do not insult those who worship other than Allah", which means don't insult non-muslims themselves, in fact these two understandings are both acceptable, it's a matter of Arabic Language.

Also this story shows that you shouldn't be obscene or say obscene words, and shouldn't insult non-muslims (but, of course, do reply to them politely):

'A'isha reported that some Jews came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and they said: Abu'l-Qasim (the Kunya of the Holy Prophet), as-Sam-u-'Alaikum (Let Boredom be upon you), whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Wa 'Alaikum. A'isha reported: In response to these words of theirs, I said: But let there be death upon you and disgrace also, whereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: 'A'isha, do not use harsh words. She said: Did you hear what they said? Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Did I not respond to them when they said that; I said to them: Wa'Alaikum (let it be upon you).

Sahih Muslim.

Swearing is not an Islamic behavior, nor it's acceptable to be in a muslim:

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "A true believer is not involved in taunting, or frequently cursing (others) or in indecency or abusing."

[At-Tirmidhi].

Riyad as-Salihin.

And Allah loves polite muslims who have good morals, and rewards them generously:

Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language."

[At- Tirmidhi].

Riyad as-Salihin.

So, after these evidences, what is the logic behind forbidding swearing?
  • It's a bad behavior that will greatly harm the community and ruin it, even if the insulted one doesn't have a problem. It's like adultery and homosexuality forbidden, even though both sides want to do that in adultery and homosexuality.

  • Good morals are main elements of islam, The Prophet (PBUH) said:
Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I was sent to perfect good character."

Muwatta Malik.

  • Good morals are preferred by all humans, and Muslims should be the best a human can so that non-muslims would be interested in joining Islam when they see Muslims characteristics.
Hope that's convincing.

I don’t think you understand what it means to be a Islamic intellectual. You actually need to take your mind back to the Islamic golden age to a little place called Baghdad (Silicon Valley of Asia), where ideas were shared and everything was questioned.

Muslims at the time had the highest self consciousness and thrist for knowledge.

What has happened now is the opposite, neefs like yourself will go into seizures if they see someone from a different faith or ideology speaking on the same subject matter.

800-1200AD was the greatest self conscious era in Islamic history, people came from all over the world into Baghdad to trade ideas and learn from eachother.

Shataanimo is when people like yourself attack others on thier journey to self consciousness.
