vaccines work extremely well according to the latest CDC numbers.

vaccines reduce the covid death from 0.1% to 0.0001% according to the latest numbers from CDC. Somalia and other countries need this to avoid a catastrophe as in India.

I suppose Twitter is a credible and trusted source.:mjlol: And some people will believe anything even if there is no document appended. FYI India has actually administered 150 Million Doses of Covid Vaccines from January to April. There is still a lot more to go but if these vaccinated people are shedding the virus and infecting others or worse contributing to the development of mutant strains then I feel sorry for them. Sadly, Indians lack the public health and medical infrastructure to deal with more variants of concern.

Vaccinations have shown to be very effective in many countries so far. India is still way off and has many other healthcare issues so it's not a fair comparison. The UK has vaccinated a large portion of over 40s and people with underlying health conditions and has seen a sharp reduction in deaths and hospital admissions. India was always going to be hit the hardest, many Indian doctors I know were surprised it didn't happen earlier.

The biggest problem is with the current vaccines is they don't stop transmission and the virus is mutating at a faster rate than previously thought. However mass vaccinations will prevent deaths and hospital admissions so normal people can get on with their lives.

So, let me get this right. Deaths are down because of the vaccination. But the vaccines don't stop transmission and are mutating at a faster rate? And the vaccines don't create herd immunity. They will just reduce symptom severity. And you being vaccinated won't prevent someone else from catching covid. So what's the point, then? What if you manage to survive covid but end up being that minority that has a debilitating reaction or dies following the vaccine. I suppose you will be reported as a death but not from the vaccine (directly). Even if you were vaccinated hours earlier with normal vitals. :browtf: Thrombocytopenia did not happen.

The main point is that it prevents the severity of COVID infections and thus less people get hopsitalised and number of deaths decrease. This has already been proven. The problem with covid-19 is that when people get really sick it takes lot to help them get better. Think about hospital beds being occupied and intensive care being overrun. Patients with chronic conditions and cancer for example haven't had the treatment they would have had previously due to the virus. Primary care has been pretty much non-existent in many countries for the last year. It's imperative that elderly and people at risk get vaccinations.

The side effects are not significant enough to prevent these patients from getting vaccinated. In fact getting covid is more detrimental to them statistically. I don't advocate mass vaccinations for all ages, however elderly and patients with underlying medical conditions should be vaccinated.

Well at least you don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

By all means get vaccinated if it makes you feel better. I'll be in the control group to see how this all pans out

Everything is good until they start unblinding the study by putting the control group into the treatment group.:stressed:

If that happens we're screwed regardless because vaccine passports will have rolled out by then. It's a brave new world
