It is hot air, its being pushed by pro-Israel lobby groups and think tanks.
In the interest of the Somali people as a whole, I believe that Somaliland should rejoin Somalia. Of course, I understand why Somaliland disbanded from the rest of the country, from the atrocities of the Isaaq people in Siad Barreβs regime, to the instability and corruption that is rife in modern day Somalia, it makes sense to revert to colonial borders, as the northerners have felt that they have lost all trust in Somalia as a whole. However, what do Somaliland seek to gain from independence? This may a straightforward question for some, but a difficult one for others. On one hand, it guarantees sovereignty for the Somaliland people, gives them UN member status and supplies them with respect on the world stage. However, what does this entail for the Somali people in the long term? Can this open up to exploitation from foreign powers, as the Somali lands are balkanized? Does the westβ sudden interest in Somaliland expose a sneaky ulterior motive? These are all questions which are burdensome to answer in this current moment.
Additionally, what does this entail for the unionist people of SSC Khautmo? They clearly do not want anything to do with Somaliland, and they control a significant territory in the country. Does the Somaliland let them be and join FGSβ government, or use more extreme measures to capture their territory and dissolve it into Somaliland (this is important as if they are recognized they will likely have access to international weapons markets, which will almost certainly overpower the old soviet weapons many of these groups use).
Personally, I see it would be best for the Somaliland people to revert to a new modern form unionization where an eradication of qabil culture is seen. One where Somalis are proud to call home, one where the Somali people unite together to make Somalia an African powerhouse, one where our parents and grandparents dreamed of, where we are free of corruption and foreign influence. This is personally what I want for my Somali brethren.

Somalis are learning the consequences of their actions and being held to account. I was right yet again. I have always preached the opposite of the Somalian way that led you here but no one took my message seriously. Look at the mirror, you're all at fault for this occurring. Somaliland will become New Palestine and the locals will get dominated so its not good for Isaaq either. Somaliland is getting recognized only because of Somali incompetence and heartlessness. I am so happy this is happening. Somalis are not good people and bad things should happen to bad people.

Even if they're going down a terrible path, it's troubling to wish violence on our people esp foreign. The real enemy is AS. I can't bring myself to believe this is what the ordinary people want in Hargeisa.
Even though many of us can see this outcome happening if they involve us in the war between the US, Israel, and the Houthis, its still wrong to say. We shouldn't wish more violence upon our people even if some have been misguided.

This is so ironic when you guys have been celebrating and cheering AS on whenever they bombed innocent civilians. Its not a secret how much disdain yall have for us.
