US proxy war with Russia

Is there a time frame where the US is not at war or preparing to go to war with another nation on earth? After the US wars in the middle-east ended now they're preparing to go to war with Russia? What do guys think would be the outcome of this situation? The Russians won't back down so easily as other nations considering the fact their nuclear arsenal.

If the US went in they'd lose, Russia isn't some third world nation guarded by some sandal wearing goat herders brandishing AK-47's, they have an actual army/air force, US wouldn't dare.
