I'll take the Israeli official they're quoting with a grain of salt. All officials communications from KSA thus far have indicated a reaffirmation of their support to Palestinians. They even appointed a special envoy to Palestine (previously through Jordan) for the first time last month, but also requested the diplomatic consulate to be based in Jerusalem. What does this tells you?

Usually Israeli consulars/ambassadors are placed in Tel Aviv and RamAllah for Palestine. Those countries who support using Jerusalem as a permanent base for their consulars/ambassadors, either recognize it as the capital for Israel/Palestine or have intentions of doing so soon.
