US and Saudi reach deal over Israel normalisation

The Biden administration didn't accept the Article 5 NATO like request request but did agree to discuss what some U.S. officials are calling an "article 4.5" commitment — a security guarantee that would fall short of the Saudi expectations but would still be significant, a U.S. official said.

Netanyahu and Dermer want something similar and think that in a broader context of a U.S.-Saudi-Israel deal, such a security agreement will be easier to get, Israeli officials said.

this doesn't say they reached a deal, it says they are discussing one. to my knowledge, the Saudi position is they are willing to come to an agreement with the yahud on the basis that there is some sort of protection for the Palestinian and recognition of some of the Palestinian land.

Actually they don’t care. Israel officials say that the sticking point was nuclear program and NATO type protection.

Biden has agreed to this (although not Article 5 but a 4.5 (so something close).

Israel is briefing they don’t even know what ‘protections for Palestinians’ means and that it’s just a checkbox to save Saudi’s blushes

is quran 17.104 a prophecy of the state of israel?
And We said after him [i.e., Pharaoh] to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise [i.e., appointment] of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."

"U.S. and Saudi Arabia have agreed on the broad contours of a deal for Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel in exchange for concessions to the Palestinians, U.S. security guarantees and civilian nuclear help, according to U.S. officials."

that is what the article says. I don't know what source you are going by.

I’m telling you the Israelis are briefing the concessions are meaningless.

The Saudis do not care about Palestinians. They just want civil nukes and American security protection

Saudi should pressure Isreal to remove the Israeli settlers in the West Bank, and offer to compensate them to move to America or Israel proper in exchange for normalization & further normalization of the Muslim world. But strictly conditional on the West Bank not being swiss cheesed like it currently is, and a Palestinian state emerging.

Saudi just want a civil nuke. It’s surprising Biden is so desperate to offer this and NATO like defence.

Both Israel and Saudi know Biden has to be the one to do this so it gets bipartisan support forever. Otherwise it would be politicised by democrats and their voters under a Trump presidency and not have the usual bipartisan defence. So deadline of 9-12 months is rumoured for this deal to be closed.

Now that Saudi are normalising, it’s time we did too. We also need our slice of the pie, hopefully post Shabaab we can get a nice financial deal and a US security partnership.

US demands on Saudi to include no Chinese currency trade effectively, dollar use, no Chinese base and Huawei.

They're not getting a nuke, it would be insane to give them one considering that would make Iran just go ahead and create one. They need to give up this fantasy of competing in a security competition with Iran and just outsource security to them in exchange for cash and helping them bypass sanctions. The Arabs lost this when Iraq, Yemen and Syria became an Iranian satrapy

They’ll get a civil nuke for energy. Which will allow them to enrich uranium. While they also invest in R&D/nuclear science.

It’ll be similar to Japan who are rumoured to be able to create nukes in no time from their civil program
