Why were those people living in al shabab controlled areas? Do they not know there is major deadly war going on between Al shabab and the government

Unfortunately it is what it is. Al Shabab hold these people hostage and when they are unfortunate as to be killed due to them they use their dead bodies as propaganda. I do feel for them however it is to be expected, AS wants to kill folk and yet cries crocodile tears when theirs are killed.
