Tbh Al shabab controls that much because of salafis controlling Somalia. They own the clergy, business, and the minds of the people with their puritanical version of Islam. If the government reconciles with the clans, builds an inclusive government, and closes every business that pays taxes to Al shabab weather they like it or not, we will see the group disappear within themselves. We also need to close every machad, madrasa, and dugsi so that we can focus more on secular education. If we don't, these puritanical dogmatic nutjobs will find a way to radicalize or nation once more.
To be honest I would say AS have more presence to the southwest of Badhaadhe between Kulbiyow and Ras Kamboni. That's their access to boni forest through to Kenya.
