The south is worse, the more their language is affected by the Semitic Amharic, Swahili and Italian words like ukun It's Amhara And several other words spoken by coastal residents are of Swahili origins
I genuinely want to know why you guys care?

I can say Ukun if I want to, I can say Miis (tabel) if I want to, I can say Dugaan if I want to, I can say Borsa & Suugo if I want to, I can say WHATEVER I WANT TO.

You guys really need to find a hobby and do something productive in your lives. Why do you care about whatever we say?!?

We should make it mandatory for these users that complain about loan words to post their voice addressing their problem w the the language in af soomali

A lot of they guys would get clowned daily back home but are proficient linguists on sspot

We have loaned words who absolutely have no need, why a lot of us somalis say tartiib when we can say aayar, same shit. Extreme laziness from somalis in this regard.

Honesty is needed, some of the
”loanwords” we have came from flexing arabic speaking somalis who wanted to showcase that they know arabic.

Similar thing is happening today where english speaking somalis will randomly drop 3-4 english words while speaking somali, what was the reason to do this, Imma tell you, to flex on others.

Quraac = breakfast

Xanaaq = angry

Tartiib = quiet / quietly

Face = weji

All from arabic among others, what makes this worse is we have SOMALI equilevant for these words.

I want to know who and when did somalis start using arabic words for a basic emotion (angry), for our face (weji) and also for quiet (tartiib)

Magnificently huge L for us somalis, how idiotic we gotta be to use loanwords for basic stuff. Open your eyes people, shit is ridiculous

Xanaaq is Arabic for real?? Arabs use "Ghadib" and other words for angry also Never heard arabs using Quraac also??

Maybe it southern Arabian loan words from ancient arabs

That walanweyn guy thinks he knows af Soomali very well while speaking in a bastardised somali dialect kkkk 😂 😂
You think I’m Hawiye? I’m Darood. We taught you guys the Somali language, I have a reer mudug accent like my ancestors. I believe I speak the best Somali, don’t sound Indian like you saxiib :mjlaugh:

Finally someone who understands the logic. We have indigenous Somali words, you call their method flexing on others I call it isnaceyb, they hate their identity therefore would create fake narratives in their heads so maybe others can accept them.

Upon further research, the words xanaaq and quraac are of somali origin, because I checked online and no arabic translation listed quraac for breakfast or xanaaq for angry.

Some words we share with yemenis could be either from us or for from them, depends on the words.

I might have been too harsh on our forefathers:hmm:
