United States and European Union regret the motion against Kheyre

Regrettably, the developments in the House of the People of Somalia on Saturday represent a setback for Somalia and for the confidence of the European Union in the progress of Somalia. The procedures under which a motion of no confidence in the cabinet was passed did not meet minimal constitutional requirements. This vote occurred a day after the conclusion of a much anticipated meeting between the President and Federal Member States at which it was agreed that consultations would follow and a further meeting would occur on August 15. These actions entail a serious disrespect for the constitutional foundations of Somalia, on which the European Union has been investing.

The U.S. Embassy regrets the actions of the President and Lower House of Parliament to withdraw confidence in Prime Minister Ali Hassan Khayre and his government, which heightened political tensions and undermined the ongoing process of dialogue and negotiation between the Federal Government of Somalia, Federal Member States, and other key stakeholders. This irregular process is a setback for the reform agenda Somalia has pursued with the support of the United States. Somalia’s stability, security, and prosperity can only be built through cooperation, coordination, and compromise among Somalia’s leaders; if any individual or institution seeks to dominate the others, it undermines the stability of the entire nation.

Foreign powers have to remind Somali leaders about their own constitution. :leon:

This is our country and we will do what is best for it. The international community can give it's thoughts but the final decision is up to the Federal Government of Somalia.

Kheyre has already accepted the outcome and a new Prime Minister will be selected by the President in the coming weeks. The country will move forward, business as usual.

Clearly you don't know what's good for it when other countries need to tell you not to violate your own constitution. You don't see other countries disrespected like this. The sad truth is that the country has not moved forward otherwise there would be no need for these statements by the international community.

@Dues Ex Machete

The Speaker who ousted Kheyre said he failed to establish peace in the country.

"The speaker has accused Prime Minister Khayre and his government of not fulfilling promises they made to the nation.

“The government has failed to fulfill its national promises, including holding one man - one vote elections, and establishing a national security force capable of tightening the security,” the speaker said. "

When the Kenya’s post-election violence happened the USA/UN threatened kenya and they wanted to send a “diplomats” to investigate the incident. Kenya literately told them to fuk off then want straight to China. They also put uhuru on the wanted list and yet he still became a president. The IC is actually weaker then y’all think.

But in Somalia’s case they use the “Terrorist” excuse. They won’t leave us alone As long as AS is still around. Until then let them keep barking

It was the ICC that wanted to investigate and ultimately failed because of lack of cooperation from the African Union. The US wanted to form a national unity government. The difference in this case is that Somalia is almost entirely bankrolled by the international community whereas Kenya has de facto sovereignty.

I agree, we should avoid anything that can cause internal division within our government. This was a move that greatly worried me but because khaire accepted the decision and stepped, I was sure this was a temporary setback for a huge come back. This whole incident made me realize our country is in the right hands :)

Almost all the poor countries receive billions of aid from the IC. The IC doesn’t treat them like this. Also 65% of the FGS budget comes from xamar’s taxpayers. Plus HSM replaced like 3 PM in less then 4 years why are they making a big deal out of it now? My sources are saying kheyre was loyal/puppet to the EU that’s why they’re mad. They don’t Want risk a Pro turkey or China PM taking charge.

You make a good point. Kheyre was tied to Norway and a British oil company that was doing research in Somalia.

They wanted all the oil for themselves. They don't realise we don't need them. They need us.

Seriously tho security needs to be restored or this treatment will continue.
