UN deleted tweet recognising Borama as Somalia

The landers went absolute apeshit on twitter

Plus many more but they are now deleted.

I’m surprised at couple things:
1. Somaliland authority are actually surprised UN recognises Borama as Somalia. What’s up with that?

2. UN actually deleted the tweet. What’s their plan now, to recognise Borama as Somaliland? Probably as they know FGS is clueless.

3. The patheticness of the government of Somalia. By now the FGS should be consistently protesting international bodies even using the “Somaliland” instead of “North East Somalia”, like they did with shell and other oil companies. However I understand they would look stupid even wasting resources on such protests when the politics of the country is in constant chaos. But I still think it’s worth it as it doesn’t require a lot of resources and mid level officials can handle it.

There is no legitimate federal government in Somalia right now. Only a transition government. Farmajo is being condemned by his own cabinet and you want him to give orders to the UN

Unfortunately, therefore lack of any wisdom

If he were an absolute leader you would still criticise him don’t you? But its true he doesnt have any real power as Mogadishu’s security is fragile the army is weak and the government is filled with incompetents

I don’t think farmajo is bad per as. I believe he was genuinely interested in changing the corruption and bad governance in Somalia. This is why he was initially popular. At some point, and maybe due to bad advice he became interested in staying in power and became just as corrupt as all other Somali politicians.

We need to separate Faarmajo from the Government of Somalia. Faarmajo is not THE FGS but only a representative.

The FGS & Foreign Ministry should advocate for Somalia no matter who is in power. SL got UN to delete tweet by simply throwing up a tweet, FGS could do the same. I understand it’s not ideal circumstances but you can’t just ignore violations of country’s sovereignty due to a political crisis, that makes no sense either.

A tweet about borama is not a priority when elections have dragged for over a year. Ma walantahay?

I highly doubt he is corrupt because it isnt visible unlike former president hassan sheikh and prime minister Omar abdirashid sharmarke whose corruption was rampant

I understand it sounds ludicrous on the surface, but Foreign Ministry employs a hundred people who work 2.5 hours a day. Why is it too much to ask for one of them to throw up a tweet? It’s not as difficult as your making it out.

Foreign Ministry should be self directed in these situations, they don’t need input from Foreign Minister/Faarmajo for every single thing.

Policy direction: Somalia does not recognise SL & will not tolerate violations from UN or any international body.

Employees: Follow & implement policy to best of their abilities.

What your saying is informative but how do you expect to be taken serious with this name?

Ever heard of the story of the young bull and the old bull. A young bull and old bull are on top of hill, looking down where there are hundreds of cows grazing. The young bull says let’s run down there and f.uck one of those cows. The old bull reply’s, no son, let’s walk down there and f.uck them all.

in other words, you seems so fixated in screwing the separatists. But the reality is the separatists are the least of Somalia’s worries right now. No serious international government listens to them on serious issues. We need a functioning stable federal govenment that respects the constitution. Once you have that, you can tackle other issues.

Strong disagree here. Sovereignty can never be a "low priority" and must have full attention & priority at all times. The entire purpose of a government is to protect its sovereignty & territorial integrity, that can never take a backstage in any circumstance.

And what you mean on "fixated on screwing separatists"?😕

This is not a matter screwing anyone over but protecting your country's sovereignty.

Have you ever heard of the "Broken Window Theory"? Letting small transgressions such as this go without incident will only set the path for UN and others to go further with infringements.

The want the vaccine to be distributed, they don’t care about politics, although they know that borama is in Somalia, but they want to play along the dreamers

The UN recognises Borama as Somalia but they’re not stupid. They know that saying so will just matters more difficult for them when they only just want to get ppl vaccinated.

Why drag politics into vaccination was probably what they were asking themselves

Easiest solution is just to write Borama, no need for them to write SL or Somalia. Tweets are done by some interns. It’s all silly.
