I surmise that they had originally hoped somalia would be a resourceless and weak nation forever as it helps them to hold power in that region, since their former colony kenya follow their every command. However the recent findings of resources have brought somalia some key allies in the form of USA and turkey and even russia, who have investors willing to bribe their officials to ensure somalia is ready for business. The UK is now langaab and has been burdened with years of internal political dispute and therefor can't interfere in somali affairs any longer.UK wants somalia to stay as a shithole and have its national army be amisom for ever
The ones that want somalia to be held back in anarchy are the same ones dancing with kenya to keep useless amisom in the country, that can't even contain khat eating terrorists living in huts in the middle of south somalia. This government at least wants to kill these rats. The other corrupt opposition want to prosper from the misery of somalia and want the arms embargo to stay in place and the somali national army to remain weak, so al shabaab can keep bombing somalis in the south.Lol perhaps because they know how these weapons will be used. Somalis wherever they are...somalia, Canada, Europe...the only thing they do well is kill other Somalis

Actually according to Dr beilah we are not that corrupt anymore. The government has done well enough to officially claim that. We are slowly moving towards progress whether our enemies want that or not. Somalis need to learn that we are all we have in this world, tribal enclaves won't save us from our enemies that want us to remain poor forever. Not sure I trust any Somali government not to sell these arms to al Shabbab. Somali government are the most corrupt in the world making Nigeria look like a model of transparency. We need less guns in Somalia full stop.

I agree. We need ogaden back and i pray abiy has more difficulty uprising on his hand. We also need nfd to try and form a seccesionist movement, which somalia can aid in the future by returning kenya's hostility and siding with secessionists in mombasa and lamu regions in kenya.Perfectly describes the situation.
They probably also gave the Somali region away for strategic reasons.
Hard to invade Somalia when we can hide guerrilla forces deep in the hinterland.
Now Ethiopia could handle our rear for them while they're able to reach any part of Somalia with a navy and a small ground Force.

We can play their game against them. And may they burn in their anger knowing that our country is rising and they can only wait for the inevitable proxy wars in the future. If we can get a stable and strong loyal uncorrupt government that can do as well as this current government for the nesxt election, then we stand a chance of reaping the rewards of our rich resources and by 2035 we can be a completely different country, that is ready to play the dirty cold war against our vicious neighbours. If we can get russia and turkey on our side as long term allies, then we can definitely cause our neighbours some trouble. I hope this time we will only take our lands back and not risk losing russian support again. Russia will always go against invading christian lands but somali lands thye don't care about.
You didn't understand what i preached. We should focus on peace, but that doesn't stop us from spreading fitna in their land and arming any rebels to destabilise them internally once we have more money than them. We have to play the dirty game or risk them doing the same to us again. We have to weaken our neighbours and repay the debt, but in a smart way. We must play the psyhcological game and destroy them from within. The west do it all the time as we've seen with libya, they just wait for a crack to show and arm rebels to destabilise the region. The Kenyans can have the NFD.
Getting it back would be more of a hassle.
Instead of trying to fight our neighbors in a never ending tit for tat we should focus on the bigger picture... I e. Making a place for ourselves in the wider world.
Even Ogaden can be sacrificed if that's what's required to become a first world country.
I don't give too fucks about some dusty borders or some soon to be useless oil.
The resources we have within Somalia are a tiny fraction of the resources outside.
The population and especially the potential labor force inside Somalia is a fraction of the human resources available around the world and Africa...
Last thing we want is to isolate ourselves from all those riches.
Us fighting our neighbors for land is probably a trap our past dear colonial overlords set for us and other countries by designing our borders.
In 2050 I want Somalia to compete in space not degeh buur or Garisa.

I don’t believe they are against lifting the arms embargo because they care about Somali people but because it goes against their interest in the region.
I am conflicted on this issue too, on one hand I would love to see a strong SNA that defends our people and lands from domestic threats like shabaab and foreign ones too. On the other hand, I am afraid the weapons will be used against each other or end up in the hands of tribal militias.
I think we should tread very lightly on this matter considering how divided we are today (opposition, JL/PL vs SFG and so on).
We all have to be on the same page in order to move forward
a helicoptercome on sxb did you not watch black hawk downWould you rather have millions of people in abject poverty for decades?
Millions dying over easily solvable disease and starvation whenever there's a crisis.
Tens of thousands every year by small tribal conflicts?
.....
Or a single showdown where hundreds of thousands die in a couple years but we finally get to solve our stalemate?
Removing the arms embargo doesn't mean we'll have a thousand tribal armies going at each other with small arms.
Instead the richest forces would buy the big guns and quickly consolidate power.
A single helicopter could ward of the majority of the clan forces in Somalia today.
Removing the arms embargo would give us peace within a couple years.

especially in a country filled with rpgs, its practically useless
