Muslim receptionist who sued NHS has case dismissed

NHS Receptionist Samira Duhulow, in her 20s, from London, claimed she was discriminated against for not celebrating another staff member's birthday at Imperial College Healthcare Trust.

A Muslim NHS receptionist who sued the health service after she refused to sign a birthday card for a colleague because 'birthdays were against her religion' has had her case dismissed.

Samira Duhulow, in her 20s, claimed she was discriminated against by her boss at London's Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, who criticised her for not signing a birthday card.

The practising Sunni Muslim said she had been ridiculed for refusing to sign the card because birthdays were against her beliefs.

Now an employment tribunal has dismissed all of her claims, concluding that her colleagues did not know that her refusal to celebrate birthdays had anything to do with her religion.

Instead, a judge ruled she had tried to 'shoehorn' her grievances at work into allegations of discrimination.

The tribunal heard Ms Duhulow started working in the reception team for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, which manages five London hospitals, in November 2016.

actually in the surface this girl sounds crazy but if you read more it comes across like she faced passive aggressiveness that goes deeper than the birthday card. I don’t think she’s should’ve sued as she didn’t have enough evidence but yeah whoever Ms.Williams is wants her gone and won’t stop until she does.

Yeah you can’t sue for passive aggressive behaviour cause you can’t prove it. Just use the same passive aggressiveness back to them. I told the guys I work with I don’t celebrate either. Next day we signed a card for my boss. I wrote congrats. You are 1 year closer to your death. Mind you my boss is a chav who steals from our company who is far from professional so he don’t care

The logic is extremely flawed if her or her coworkers were to leave she would sign the card. According to salafi any celebration that’s not the two Eids are haram
