I think they’ve always existed online but I think social media algorithms began pushing more hateful content ~2016, and that’s allowed for them to become more visible

Speaking the words "Merry Christmas" is akin to acknowledging the belief in God having a son, a celebration centered around the birth of the Son of God. In essence, it's a proclamation of disbelief (Kufr). Simple deduction, really.

Going back and forth with you is pointless. You called following the salaf cancerous. And proof for your lack of knowledge is linking the madhab of Salafiyaah to Khawarij groups like al-Shabab and ISIS, when in fact, Salafis are the arch-nemesis of Khawarij groups, whether they are rebels or individuals who incite it from their couches.

Before you speak without knowledge, learn what the Salaf and Salafiyah are. You're a grown adult, and slandering the Salaf is akin to saying to stop listening to the three early generations of Muslims, which includes the first generation comprising the Prophet and his companions, and what their students and subsequent generations followed.
