Somalia south of Galkacyo is the size of Germany, and has a population of 10 million people spread out fairly evenly. It is difficult to imagine an army of 20,000 soldiers policing clan conflict and fighting Alshabab simultaneously.

If you look at the challenge with clear eyes, Southern Somalia needs an army of ~100,000. Assuming average pay of $200 a month, that comes out to $240 million per year. All taxes collected by the FGS in 2021 was ~ $225 million. The only way to fund a Somali National Army of sufficient size is to convince the US, UK and EU to shift funding away from Amisom to to the SNA. There is no way Ethiopia and Kenya will welcome the creation of an effective SNA.

In all honesty, it is hard to see an end to this where the kebabs don't take Mogadishu like the Taliban took Kabul.

No way they’ll beat AS with weapons without recoiling , the more foreign troops and weapons this western back government uses indiscriminately against civilians because let’s be honest it’s a asymmetrical warfare, there will be heavy civilian casualties the more legitimacy it gives AS and the less public support FSG will have
