Uae backs secssionist model began in libya exported to somalia

I found this really intresting clip of the thinking muslim were Andrew's krieg a senior lecturer at kings college london defense and middle eastern studies. Talks about how the uae apparently creates this model in Libya and now backs and promotes secession movement everywhere to gain influence over smaller enclaves. They apparently don't just support somaliland and puntland but even do some stuff in jubbaland as well.

Its very simple, just like the guy explained it's very easy to make deals to your advantages when your dealing with a bunch of fragmented groups in a country vs dealing with a larger stable govt.

Somalia isn't comparable to the other countries. UAE didn't create Somaliland or Puntland. Three countries already emerged independently after the civil war. The imposition of a central state that has legal sovereignty is the actual mistake. Isn't even self-sufficient and never has been and probably never will be.

Somaliland is the most obvious case, and to some extent, the same applies to Puntland, Southwest State, and Jubbaland.

What the UAE did with Somaliland is a textbook example, they leveraged Somaliland’s desperation for recognition to push through a lopsided Berbera port deal that heavily favored Emirati interests.

I’ve spoken about this before, and honestly, whatever I previously said about Djibouti having the upper hand can be thrown out. They're now trapped in legal battles and facing potential fines for trying to exit or renegotiate similar deals.
I also looked into the DP world port deal with Bosaso and Berbera. I never looked into it far too much on the Berbera side of things of what the deal entails, because i assumed it would be like Bosaso where local government has full ownership at 100% and uses mostly it's own work force pulled from the locals in hiring for port operations, expansion, and logistics.

But in Bebera, DP world Dubai are bringing their own workers and creating minimal job oppurtunities for people in Berbera. Since DP World owns 51% of Berbera port, they control hiring decisions.

90 % of the port revenue in Bosaso goes straight to the government's budget because they have full ownership of the port.

SL actually traded part of it's ownership in a bid to secure recognition , waa wax yab leh.

Luckily Berbera's situation can actually be reversed , it was under weak terms that can be re-negotiated. DP World has lost port contracts in Djibouti and other countries due to unfair terms. If Somaliland unites politically on this issue, DP World will be forced to listen.
It shows just how strategically the UAE plays the long game, fragmented states make it easier for them to lock in advantageous agreements with minimal pushback.

UAE seems to be their new boogeyman, especially after giving PL a hand to exterminate daesh terrorists.. Also the Turks who control villa amisom doesn't seem to like the new competition.
