I agree, my leaders don't. Our politicians don't want to lose territory, and we pushed this partly because we wanted a land bridge to SR.

I expect improved relations/collaboration if you had your own maamul. I can't see any benefit to holding Gedo other than preventing a Nisa-run Gareen to the north.

The question is, what can Gedo do to develop a taxable economy? Gedo and Hiraan will ultimately answer to Kismayo/Xamar if they can't form a budget to at least survive.

Once again it would be silly to leave entire subclan of marexaan out of a future Gedo State but I'm glad you think it would be wise for us to split. There is a precedent for a region managing it's own affairs and ruling independent of any other administration. (18 regions)

Why should I have to listen to Kismayo who I do nothing for and they do nothing for me. They sit across from me, across swamps jungle terrain, terrorist enclaves. Gedo is almost the size of Galnus the gap between them is a max 2000km and that is what Galmudug claim they control including AS held territory and excluding parts of Mudug controlled by PL.

I get you and those are valid points but I'm telling you the nature of the 68 people. Every village will want a state with the first disagreement.

The FGS and FMS in this case JL both recognize this as the boundaries of Gedo region. Pre 1991 map is no longer applicable as we have new regions in the form Awdal and Sool both recognized by the FGS.

This is a PDF containing info on idps in Bardheere district. The results were complied jointly by officials from the FGS and JL over the years. Both parties clearly show Bardheere district extends all the way down to border lower jubba.

The reward isn’t worth the risk sure he might be weakening one enemy but he’d also be giving power and a platform to another enemy and two states against you is worse than one big one it’ll weaken his influence and authority within the govt plus it’s political suicide to give more seats to people that are guaranteed to vote you out come election time.
