If the FOB's you're talking about are so quick to jump ship, their faith in Islam and its strength to its supporters wasn't there in the first place. Also, you talk about it turning into a shithole like Somalia isn't consistently ranked it #1 as the shittest nation on earth. Maybe Catholicism might elevate it a few levels. Personally, strong religious presence in a country is a way for its citizens to accept mediocrity and failure of civilisation due to afterlife promises. At this point, Somalia is ready to accept anywho or anything or other than what it is right now, can't get any worse.

Posters are acting like the church and other pieces of architecture are the equivalent of the American Robert E. Lee and co. statues in the South that African Americans protest having in public.

If it were a colonial statue of a figure, I would say knock it down, but if you’re going to tear down architecture, ie, the church to stick it to colonialism, sounds like it’s bye-bye for significant areas of the capital. It’s irrational. Although rebuilding it once it’s gone is unnecessary.

The symbolism behind the Fasces is pretty powerful though, and might be even pre-Roman.

Somalis could use some collectivism. Currently they are too divided, like that single twig that's easy to break.
