Tweet about Somalis taking over causing debate on Turkish twitter

Sözcü is a Kemalist newspaper in Turkey which publishes pro-CHP news, a Kemalist party and the main opposition to Erdogan's current ruling AKP party. Turkish politics is confusing because left and right and liberal and conservative don't map to western politics. The Turks defending Somalis are progressive liberals (anti-Erdogan, pro-LGBT etc) and Islamists (pro-Erdogan, anti-LGBT etc), while against are the Kemalists. This tweet is gaining large traction on Turkish twitter. If the CHP win in the 2023 Turkish general elections, it will be bad news for Somalis in Turkey.

This woman is right

Definitely doesn't look pro Erdogan to me.

I said the Turks defending Somalis are anti-Erdogan progressive liberals and pro-Erdogan Islamists. The progressive liberals don't have big representation in Turkish politics though as its mainly between Islamists (ruling AKP) and Kemalists (main opposition CHP)

Somalis need to realize they are not wanted anywhere in the world whether that’s South Africa, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Europe etc. The days of tahrib are over and Somalis have been tahribing for 30 years. It’s time to get it together

If it were a community of East Euro/Balkaner refugees that still spoke a Non-Turkish language then I'd guarantee you there would be no negative coverage, since the Turks view them as Brothers and more compatible with the Turkish state that can be easily Turkified.

However, refugee groups like Syrian Arabs, Blacks/Somalis & to a lesser degree Kurds will get treated like shit and be viewed as a threat.

Most of the comments and QT are in support of the Somalis and are pointing out the hypocrisy of complaining about 3 shops when Turks are all over Europe with their shops.

The barber shop owner's sneaky display of the Turkish flag with one of their historical leaders is playing well to them too lol.

Still, hope Somalia becomes more stable with law and order as that's the main reason why Somalis invest in other countries.

Our mere innocent presence is a threat to some people. It goes to show that not everyone has your best interest at heart and that this is a time we should stick close together as Somalis.Tribalism and differences aside, we need to build Somalia together and put it back on the map. Every man and woman does whatever good he/she can so we can return back to our mother land, raise our kids there, a place where our parents can gladly retire and we reap its awards.

Exacly after 30 years and people are still tahribing. After a well you have to get tired of running. Its these politicians that send their kids to the best schools outside of somalia . While they refuse to spend money on education back home
