Potentially billions of dollars of aid money was pocketed by the Somali government, it's a shame that we have to beg others for help. What's wrong with US/Europe and why did they have to install warlords as our government?

There needs to be a revolution in Somalia (not the communist/socialist type) that is led by the people to ensure that this systematic corruption, that literally leads to the death of the people as seen by the famine, is brought down. However, this will most likely never occur because Somalis are too incompetent to establish revolutions that are mutually beneficial for everyone irregardless of clan, and after the revolution everyone will fight for power most likely as is the story of the whole bloody civil war.

Every country goes through their hardships. We've witnessed our Dark ages were now in Feudalism and soon we shall enter our Renaissance.

The movement is already underway. The more the federal states and central gov fucks up the better.

Dark ages? Is that how you categorise the disaster the Somali nation is? Every aspect of Somalia's problem is thanks to the incompetence of the Somali people, other nations eventually fixed up but this is the 21st century and the nation is still bitterly divided among clan lines and corruption is rife. The only thing holding Somalia down is its people.

You're simplifying it. Yes Somalis are at fault and everyone should agree with that statement. But how much can you blame an illiterate geeljire, that's never traveled abroad, read a book, still believes the sun rises and sets for trusting his Clan elder or his Sheik when they promise him and his toolo supremacy, wealth and most of all food?

And is it really that implausible? All societies on earth have had supremacist tendencies. Regardless if it's been based on ethnicity, tribe, clan or religion these factions have always existed and will always exist.

The modern world is just better at containing those elements.

And revolutions don't happen in vacuum it takes time and progress. You can't enforce western Standards on Somalia and wish for Somalia to act like a Western country over night. This will take time. And I rather see small progress than a quick one that comes and goes.

Hopefully it'll get better for our people.

I'm sorry but by this logic, we'll have to wait far beyond our own generation to see a functioning Somali state. I'm not asking for a western nation, I'm asking for a Somali state. I'm sorry to say this but Somalis have only gone via a downward spiral after the civil war, not foward. Somalis, as a people, have regressed. Somalia most likely had a higher illiteracy rate before the war then afterwards yet Somalia today is worse. Like I said, it's the people that need changing and things don't look well. I've been far too optimistic in the past.

Have you been to Somalia lately?

Last time I was there the demographic around my age were not concerned nor did they care about qabil or even religion. Their main priority was education, work and being able to live freely. They did not take the words of clan elders or religious people serious and they did not value them. Those that you are discussing and should rightfully be attacking are the 35+ demographic specifically male and live in rural Somalia.

Downward spiral that's true but I'll assume you've never been to Somalia and therefor I can freely tell you that there is hope.

The less these clan leaders, federal states, 4.5 system delivers security and food the less the people will believe them. I'm not trying to create a pretty pic of Somalia because It's a shithole but I'm still optimistic.

I've been to Somaliland, same people, and I have to say that although I enjoyed the nation so much (the people very hospitable) I still saw things that showed me that the nation has a lot to do. I saw a bunch of youth with machetes and wooden planks going after people. I asked my uncle what they were doing and he replied that they were most likely going to beef some other Somali lot because of their qabil. Perhaps he is wrong but the fact that tribal issues exist even among youth needs to be addressed. What I tend to notice is that Diaspora Somalis lack an interest in qabil but the majority of Somalis, youth and adult, still have huge clan animosity. All you need to do is check this place out as evidence. Look, perhaps I'm being too pessimistic but I need to see more before I can actually start being optimistic again. I have a somewhat hope for this new president but I think that he'll be strained by the corrupt hordes around him.

Diaspora youth being qabilist usually steams from their parent while for others it's out of curiously. You might have 1 qabilist diaspora and their loud voice will be louder than the 9 Diasporas that couldn't care less and only believe in Somalinimo.

Don't believe Somalispot it's not a true representation of Diasporas. This site will paint the pic that all Somalis are qabilist and salafis when that couldn't be further from the truth.

for the majority of Somalis qabil is probably not based on animosity but security and hope for a better outcome. The thing is these clan lords, war lords, corrupt MPs have failed to deliver security and other vital factors based on clan. How much longer do you think 10 million + Somali will be fine with droughts, famines and terrorism until they start questioning these men and their fake policies?

And that factor could easily be deleted by creating jobs.

You have those issues everywhere in Somalia and it's because of lack of education, jobs and income. You see the same thing in Europe. Young men without high school diplomas, without jobs commit crimes because of being restless.

Overall Somalia is a hellhole. But the fact that there are 18-30 year olds Somalis that don't value clan or religion in the same regard as their parents means there is hope for a revolution. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic.

In the end we both want what's best for our country

I actually have no hope for any Somali politicians. It'll be the same old story. Like you said before its up to the people and judging by the vast celebration across the country they were happy that an election did happen and that alone speaks volume.

Okay, So, I just called and there was a girl who answered the phone. She was polite and very helpful. I asked her if she could help me lodge a complaint about the trending stories of turkishairlines and the funding being stolen. She apologized and she said they will update their embassy website and make a platform for complaints and anything else any Somali is willing to contribute to Somalia. She also mentioned efforts under way to help the victims through official government representatives.

Just be nice and polite if you call. Make your suggestions and encourage them to do good for the country and inform them you are here to help as a Somali national who holds dual citizenship.

I think once they establish a link and write an updated information on this project, and we get hold of some official person, we can vent our frustration along with the help we provide.

Let us do something small like lending our voice to the concern politely. Don't be disrespectful please if you call and don't troll the Somali Embassy.
