Turkey to establish logistics centers in Africa -- New Djibouti sea route will exclusively operate between Turkey, Djibouti and Somalia

Turkey is to establish logistics centers in Africa to bring goods to the continent. It will provide financial assistance to the involved companies. Djibouti has opened a new sea route between Turkey, Djibouti and Somalia that will reduce shipping time from 35-50 days to just 9-10 days. It will exclusively operate between those three countries.

I think this is an opportunity for Somalia to become a logistics hub for the Horn of Africa and beyond. Whoever jumps first might get a preferential treatment and snatch initiative from Djibouti. Also keep in mind that e-commerce has reached $213 billions this year in Turkey and projected to grow to $240 billions next year. It means Somali companies can supply to the Turkish market a variety of products via online sales. Amazon is already operating in Turkey and expanding.

50 to 9 days shipping time to Somalia is an incredible improvement. This should be the start of many more sea route deals with other areas like East Asia. The government needs to hire local Uni grads to work jobs related to these initiatives.

Somalia must get handle on its sea resources in terms of protection from foreign fishing, harvesting, processing and delivering to world markets. It could become a substantial source of revenue.

Blue Economy alone could sustain our economy, we definitely need to invest heavily in it.

We need to nationalize our ports and put it all in one company. No need to beg the international community for handouts when we can make our one money.

I am iffy on Nationalizing them, I feel like private industry always outperforms Governments. Better for government to only regulate and tax it, like offering incentives for only training and hiring Somalis.
