I would say the only reason Turkey is not considered 1st world is because of the poor kurdish majority eastern areas (they are impoverished because of decades of pkk fighting there).Turkey is usually ranked in the top 10 when it comes to military power and they produce most of their equipment unlike most of their neighbours who buy it from western nations.
