Ethiopia has air capabilities, Somalia doesn't.

They are the 4th most powerful armed forces in the AU , it might not mean much in the global scale but in Africa they're one of the top dogs

We just need anti aircraft missiles and few turkey drones and we are good. Without air superiority Ethiopia is weak.

Yea but that was an internal conflict. Unfortunately the international community doesn't really care about African killing each other as long as they stay within their borders. Look how Sudan's civil war is barely getting any coverage

Ethiopia attacking Somalia will be different because this wouldn't just be an internal conflict. Instead this would be a sovereign country being invaded

The international community has spent billions on Somalia, no way they're going to let Ethiopia attack us now. Especially when we literally did nothing to them

All these rejections don’t matter. Ethiopia will use force and no one will help. Why would they? Palestine and Ukraine is more important to the international community. In fact Ethiopia invading Somalia is the perfect excuse for Israel to invade Lebanon, Syria etc

I doubt the people in xalane are going to let this happen. Somalia isn't like Lebanon. They have Hezbollah who has launched several missiles at Israel. Somalia is innocent, we legitimately harmed no one in this situation

Syria is in the midsts of a decade long civil war and Palestine still hasn't even been recognized as a country by many western nations

Compare this to Somalia which is currently at the best position it's been in over 30 years. We got debt relief plus the weapons sanctions removed. No way the international community would've done that if they thought Somalia didn't matter

It's pretty pathetic that we basically have no sovereignty and have to rely on ajnabis to defend our country. But tbh we as a people have to take the blame for that

But on the bright side since this new government was formed in 2012, Somalia has came a long way. Just look at how far we came in the last 10 years. Inshallah the next 10 will be even better

The US don't view Somalia as a close ally, in the scheme of things Ethiopia is more important the West never cut ties with them even though they fall under China and by extension Russian influence. Face it sxb Somalia is irrelevant diplomatically

Yea but this was before Abiy Ahmed chimped out and started killing innocent civilians. What Abiy image to the west has been completely changed, and invaded Somalia would make it worse. This isn't 2007, Somalia has a legit government and we're not bothering anyone

Plus I doubt the west is going to want a strong and populous country to control the red sea. They'd rather have the red sea countries be poor or puppets to the west. It's not in the US' best interest for Ethiopia to gains access. They don't went them to challenge US hegemony in the region

I personally don't think this will materialize to anything. Ethiopia's crumbling, SL is divided, and the international community is against what Abiy's doing

Ethiopia is going bankrupt as we speak. Who knows if they'll even remain financialy solvent by the summer

But at the end of the day, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens
