Truth about the flag of Somalia

Researching about colonial symbols and if they had made any mark on Somalia, I discovered that the Somali flag with the blue background and white star and also the Somali coat of arms with the leopard was actually a royal decree from April 1919 and not from the mid fifties as we thought previously.

Mohamed Awale Liban who was attributed to have made the flag at the least took it from that colonial design although he said that the inspiration came from the newly created UN flag and that the white stood for peace.

However it cannot be ignored that a blue flag with a star and leopard existed thirty plus yeats ahead as either the flag of Benadir or Italian Somaliland.

What do you make of it and having looked at it I came across that it is not a new revelation but it has not gone public to the Somali people.

I further found that the blue with the five stars is a common feature in italian colonised countries in Africa and a common theme.

Is there a need for new flag? Is it tine for a historical overhaul? You decide.

The key is actually to find that decree from 3rd April 1919, I cannot find yet. I do not speak any italian.

But the other coat of arms from Libya are hard to ignore and point towards something.

I have not fully made up my mind I want to give the benefit of doubt but at the samd time can only work with what I know.

You're reading too much into it. I don't see any resemblance whatsoever.
