Social programs and socialism are not one in the same, social programs are meant to provide safety nets within a capitalist framework where as socialism is about redistribution of wealth and involves some level of state/public ownership of means and production.

Although America has social programs it's not mixed economy because it leans more heavily on market-based solutions and private enterprise, with a more limited role for the government in redistributing wealth and providing social services.

Socialism is not religion at all, it just a term to describe an economic function or practice. All it is collective control of the means of production, distribution, and exchange with the aim of reducing economic inequality. Simple as that .

Muslims countries practice socialism as well and Muslims have been doing for centuries. Even the Umayyad , its in Islamic law such as Zakat, Waqf, Prohibition of Riba, Infaq and Sadaqah , Prohibition of Hoarding Wealth all aligns with socialist ideals. The Muslim states obligation to ensure its citizens basic needs are met such as food, shelter, and security, akin to the role of a welfare state in socialist systems

The Quran and Hadith advocate for the fair treatment of workers, just wages, and the avoidance of excessive wealth accumulation at the expense of others .The emphasis on justice and equity reflects socialist concerns about the concentration of wealth and power.
