The only reason Somalis should vote for Trump is this. But he could be lying to attract more voters. I hope he's not though.
Most people in this thread don't realize that without Amisom, the entire south would be taken by Al Shabaab within a month with any actual resistance in only existing in a handful of areas. With essentially no opposition, South Somalia would become the only safe haven for terrorists in the world. It would become reminiscent of Iraq and Syria during the height of ISIS rule. Foreign fighters from around the world would pour in and Al Shabaab would declare war on other countries again.
Eventually, the international community would be forced to act and the resulting carnage would be even worse than anything seen since the war to liberate Mogadishu from Al Shabaab. At this point, with a repeat of 2006 or worse, it would be clear to the world that the only solution to the southern question is intercontinental ballistic missiles like I've been saying all along.
Amisom is lazy and cowardly, but it is only thanks to them that the FGS can operate in Mogadishu. It doesn't take a genius to see what would happen if they were taken out. This is why the EU continues to pay their salaries and extend their mandate. They are the most effective fighting force in the south aside from Al Shabaab themselves.
AS was able to swoop through the south in the past because the place was already chaotic due to the warlords fighting over it for over a decade.
There's no chance they'd be able to take on the larger clans. At a certain point those clans would've been forced to unite, finally get off their ass and start up their clan technicals reserves to clean up AS.
However foreign interference made that impossible now.
Does foreign interference make these clans pay tax to Al Shabaab and support them? Is foreign interference the reason these clans fill the ranks of Al Shabaab? The problem with Somalis is that they don't know how to take responsibility.
Somalia collapsed because of them. Nonstop civil war between warlords/mooryaans ravaged the south for 15 years because of them. Those same warlords/mooryaans put on khamiises and suicide vests because of them. And it remains a failed state for thirty years and counting because of them. Foreign intervention only came when they demonstrated that they weren't satisfied with only destroying Somalia, but were looking at their next countries to destroy.
Yea actually, Shabaab grew because it had the ideological reason to do so, and the foreign occupying force that happened to be Christian Ethiopia, literally the biggest enemy possible.
Which major clans pay tax to AS? They make their money from the smaller less powerful clans and businesses who profit of the chaos.
The larger clans just let them be because no one wants to risk going against the foreign powers who put AS there in the first place by themselves.
Also because we're a lot less united than we used to be.
However once AMISON leaves and AS is stupid enough to take on the larger clans I doubt they'll last a year.
They'll be ripped apart by the same groups who chased countless of empires out of the region.
Sure we might turn our weapons against each other afterwards but this is just one of the painful stages of nationhood development that every country went through. We we're meant to have it long time ago but keep on getting fking interrupted.

If this is the case AMISOM won't leave somalia in our lifetimes. Amisom troops earn a lot of money, those Ugandan and burundians are probably getting 3 times the salary they would have in their countries. They have zero incentive to leave and zero interest in defeating Al Shabab cause if they do they would have to leave and lose their salaries.
Dude, foreign powers fund AS but at the end of the day they are a bunch of reer baadiye kids, if every clan militia in the south United against the terrorist they would be finished in a few years.
The problem is that it's hard to unite them. Those smaller clans in the south can't even unite against the larger clans encroaching on their lands because they distrust each other more.
The larger clans aren't affected as much so they aren't willing to stick their heads out alone.
The only thing that would shake things up is if they were forced to act; hence why we need AMISON and other foreign forces out.
You are right. We should also remember that AS is also a heavily qabilist terroist organization. If all Hawiye and Darood clans decided to leave them the terrorist will be finished in a few years. Amisom withdrawal will certainly bring some problems but it could also force clans to unite at least in fighting for their territories.

I don't see it, next vote on renewal of Arms Embargo is next month and early buzz is its definitely getting renewed another year.
