TRT World is Western-Leaning

This "opposition" guy is being supported by the West. TRT's coverage is sympathetic.

People think they're really getting alternative stuff with TRT and Al-Jazeera. Both have had pro-Western leaning. With Qatar, I don't think they're as anti-Zionist as is believed. With TRT, I think partly they are trying to appeal to the Western audience and partly I think they are in-between. Turkey is still a part of NATO.

This has nothing to with "the West". Turkey and Russia have fought several wars, they are rivals and have their own interests.

It is not only coincidence that they align with the West in the above-mentioned matter. I don't believe in coincidence. Plus, media in English in general tends to lean in a pro-Western direction.

the idea that this can be seen in isolation from the larger geopolitical context of the current Cold War between the Western powers and the China-Russia led bloc is a fallacy. things have to be understood within the larger context. to say we shouldn't consider the larger context is absurd.

I know of two other instances with two other countries where TRT World aligned itself with the Western stance.

there are people who genuinely think they are getting alternative stuff when they switch to TRT and Al Jazeera. it is not as different as they think it is.

@sincity do you do doubt that? you gave the "meh" looking reaction to the post.

you are kind of naïve if you don't know that about English-language media.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. That's all this is. TRT is a government funded service, so how would they be Western learning? Is Erdogan Western leaning?

Do you honestly think Turkish media in Turkish is going to be the same as Turkish-funded media that is specifically for the English-language audience (TRT World is only in English- there is no Turkish version)?

Let me give you another example- RT.

Do you honestly think RT in English is the same as RT in Russian?

I've seen TRT World take Western-aligned stances on at least two other issues, on two other countries.

But just to get back to my example... if you were to think that RT in English is broadcasting the same thing as RT in Russian... it would be very naïve to believe that.

Obviously they are not going to be the same. Navalny is a dissident and TRT won't promote him in Turkish. But it's promoting him to English speakers cause it's in their interest to see a weaker Russia. This has nothing to do with leaning West, it's turning people against Russia.

The English is for world consumption. They are going to promote things that will cause instability.
