Southerners were mislead by anti Caydiid USC wing and Afweyne. Those 2 groups undermined Caydiid and Cumar Jees, who had a plan for a transitional government. Afweyne used the docile wing of the USC against Caydiid. The SNM/USC/SPM plan for a transitional government failed because those 2 factions. So SNM agreed with the defeated northern clans that the unratified 1960 union should be ended
Caydiid was a great man. If only Afweyne he was not undermined by the Afweyne loyalists both inside and outside the USC

Depends on how you look at it. Barre being gone and SL getting to declare independence is a win but you lost 150k people if not more and USC were the ones who really removed him from office.So did we not win at the end?
They removed him from office because they came tru the south and we fought most of the army in the north and most of them run away and left their tanks and armor for snm to pick it up. And what you forgot is that they try to comeback tru awdal but they failed. And for the 150k Personally i think it was worth it Since we still control our territory till this day

Trust me sxb it was 1 clans USC effort that siade bare is gone remember snm entered Hargeisa weeks after siade Barre was lodged from mogadishu, snm was in hiding because they were hunted down by both mengistu and bare because of the pact they signed.
