Not one highway goes through anywhere in somaliweyn smh with our rapidly growing population you’d think they’d invest in us
somalia is too big and too important to be ignored, we should get our shit together quickly and act like door between asia and africa with our vast coastline

We’ve chosen the worst era to be in civil war. Our civil war should’ve been in early 1900 when the entire world was a sh.ithole. Back in the days big changes happened once every generation but now life-changing events happen every 5 years. We missed all the big opportunities in the last 30 years.

Nah we are lucky we are in in era of international peace and laws. Somalis being in 30 year war in any other period would have us gobbled up assimilated and genocided due to our weakness and division. Only reason a hundred million Ethiopians and God knows how many bantus didn't storm Mogadishu is because of international laws and the US led world order wanting to maintain borders.
That era is ending and the time of conquering your neighbours seems to be coming back. Somalis are lucky and should unify and industrialise fast. When the time of war comes somalis should be the conquerors not the conquered.
We’re so far behind the rest it’s not a joke. This is due to the era we’re inactive, Compare Somalia to Guatala, two countries with both 30 years of civil war. Guatamala was fortunate enough to have a civil war in 1960s stretching till 1990s. Thailand is an economic tiger, they had a brutal civil war of 20 years which started late 1960s. Both these countries are thriving.
Before 1900 big changes happened once every century, after WW2 it happened every generation and now it’s every 5 years. The pace of development in the last 30 years is nothing short of human miracle but we played no role.
Which is more devastating for your development: being a loser between the ages of 0 to 20 or 20-40? If you slept through your childhood, you can still dust up, take some entry exams and enroll in uni, but if you were stagnant in your 20s and 30s, you won’t keep up with your generation. Somalia was asleep during her 20s and 30s, while the rest took giant steps.

That's true but that doesn't apply to our region that much. Africa generally is still a shit hole. Dare I say 7-10 years of stable growth will put somalia on par with its neighbours. No one looks at Africa and think of development for a reason. Although Africa is starting to quicken it's pace and is catching up bit by bit. By and large our region in particular is still poor. We can easily become the leaders of east Africa if we just centralised and built a functional state that utilises our assets such as strategic location, oil, human recourses ect.
Somalis should end this doomer mindset because we still have time. We have fallen behind but we are lucky to have this opening to build back up and take charge.
If we spend this last decade of precious time loathing ourselves then we are truly doomed. The next 10 years will not only determine the future of the Somali state but also the existence of the Somali ethnicity as a whole.
Should we continue division and internal conflicts we will be gobbled up by our neighbours in the coming decades. We may put up resistances but eventually we will be assimilated and our ethnicity will no longer exist. We have this time to patten up, don't cry about the last 30 years but fix up for the next 30.
The Ancient Greek believed in redemption after suffering. This era is the last era, this is it. The world is shifting in dog eat dog world, and if you’re not standing on your own two feet, then you’re done.
Ethiopia is thinking about becoming nuclear. Your arch enemy should never ever become nuclear. When India became nuclear, Pakistani PM of that time, Bhutto said ‘we’ll get an atom bomb, even if it means that we eat grass’. He had the penetrating foresight what it means to have an arch enemy that becomes stronger.

Somalis need to be competitive like we used to. The same somalis that in the 1890s were rapidly expanding onto madow lands and snapped up a piece of Kenya. The expansion that was going faster and faster until the British stopped us.
Today we are not competitive and don't see non somali with the same disdain and mistrust we used to and we pay the price.
