I remember growing up as a young geeljire in these crime ridden neighbourhoods. It was tough. The amount of Madows iyo geeljires that lived there were negligent, brash, foolhardy, and imprudent.
I remember the cold and dangerous nights waiting for my TTC bus to come and having to run like Abdi Bile when the Madows iyo geeljires would chase me down to take my bus change or bus pass.
It wasn't easy growing up in these qashin hoods but it shaped me to become the intellectual geeljire that I am today.

My dad decided to get a crib in the suburbs. That one hood we use to live was really dangerous and they seen what happen to few of my cousins.

Whoever told you that is lying. Yes i've managed to stay in school. I know many somalis who made it to top universities despite living in a bad area.
