Sayidka hates colonizers and even his own clan betrayed him thats why he died in Imeey Oromo region. Keep denying reality but Sayidka is more closer and inline to AS than any Ogaden politician

So your reply is to insult instead of defend.

Interesting......

I might start a scientific experiment on you guys.

*note 1* seems to dodge insult by extending another go at insults. Meanwhile his folks are going through the roughest of times lately.

It takes some real fucked-upery that the non reconciliated tribes start to unite for sadaqah purposes just for your sake ๐Ÿ’€

You call the sayid a terrorist whilst you work with no one shorter than the devil to try to conquer Kismaayo.

We might need to setup a committee to control you water ph levels and khat stashes, Ya'll might be getting drugged by beesha ogadeen ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ.

Arenโ€™t your clan serving Ethiopia and Kenya with glee? You are the biggest traitors yet have the gall to fingerpoint at HAG. Waxba isma dhaantiine, Sayidka would be rolling in his grave about KDF troops in Kismayo and the Jigjiga Amxaaro church. Stop sullying his name for your clannist rants.
We are part of Kenya and Ethiopia because the coloniser put us there and we hold high positions in both. We also own a large chunk of so-called Somalia and are stakeholders there. I know it is difficult for a West Gedoan to understand but our interests transcend multiple borders. We arenโ€™t hemmed in in one village like you

Sayid Maxamed Cabdille Xasan

As a scion of the House of Ogaden, it would be amiss for me to start my piece without quoting the poetry of the Sayid of the Somalis, the first and the last of them, Sayid Maxamed Cabdille Xasan, prince of the House of Ogaden, may Allah have mercy on him and be pleased with him. In these lines, the Sayid laments how the coloniser after his arrival debased the once noble clans and raised the ignoble lowly ones to status and authority. In the last line "Nimaan aabihiis fuuli jirin, faras muxuu saaray" he paints a poignant picture of how the coloniser made horsemen of men whose forefathers had never ridden a riding beast before, let alone be competent in the equestrian arts. The Sayid expresses his frustration at how the lowly ignoble clans with no history to speak off had been favoured and given preferential treatment by the coloniser, and by necessity, how the noble clans with history and prowess before the coloniser arrived had been totally sidelined, ignored, and worse, subdued.

Before colonisation, in the Somali peninsular there were clans that were far ahead of the pack, clans with nobility and history. Clans such as the Ogaden which had a functioning traditional authority with some level of state development. The Ogaden had just conquered large swathes of the of the Somali peninsular, enslaving and subduing countless natives and confiscating millions of head of cattle and sheep in the process. The Ogaden conquest had reached far into the foothills of the Abyssinian highlands to the North and West, and deep into Central Kenya in the south. Sultan Abdi Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, the abbaanduule (commander of the military) of the Waamo Ogaden Sultanate based in Afmadow was martyred in Central Kenya beyond the Ewaso Ngiro river in Central Kenya whilst on an official expedition for instance.

Other clans ,such as the Majeerteen on the North Eastern coast of the Somali peninsular, had set up seafaring sultanates with a brisk seaborne trade. Their political control surpassed traditional Majeerteen lands to include the land of other tribes with a state structure not too dissimilar from that which existed in the Arabian peninsular. For example, the Hobyo Sultanate had a standing army, a functioning court, and a legal system based on Shariah Law.

Whilst this was the case for some Somali tribes, other tribes were sadly still stuck in the Dark Ages. Barbaric, divided, and culturally, socially, and politically regressive, they were no better than bandits and highway robbers still living in the Bronze Age. However, with the arrival of the coloniser, the sad situation the Sayid lamented came to arise as the once noble clans were subdued at the barrel of the gun by the Europeans and Abyssinians using their sophisticated modern weaponry. For example, the Ogaden in Jubbaland lost 20,000 camels in one battle on one day to illustrate the level of violence and brutality that was unleashed on them. The Majeerteen too were not spared and their sultanates were destroyed by Italian frigates and naval bombardment.

Other the other hand, the ignoble bandits and savages saw an opportunity in the arrival of the coloniser to turn around their sorry state of affairs. They became the colonisers eyes and ears, ever eager to obey their commands and fulfill every request no matter how humiliating. In return, they were lavished with weapons, wealth, and authority.

(The poet laments how painful it is when you are bested by someone who is your inferior in every facet)

This situation continued until the Madhalays (Infertile) Republic was proclaimed on the 1st of June 1960. Within this new state, all Somalis were now suddenly declared equal; the scion of nobility, history, and honour was to eat from the same plate as the scion of savages and highway robbers. Those with a history of statehood, law and order, were to share a state with a people with no concept of authority or any form of civilisation. Unsurprisingly, the Madhalays Republic was an abject failure and the civil war of 1991 was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Which brings me to today. Einstein is reported to have defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results". Today, in the so-called capital of the Madhalays (Infertile) Republic, certain segments of society claim ownership of it over other citizens, to the extent that citizens not from the dominant tribe are extradited from the city and told to "go back to where they came from". My question is, for how much longer will the noble clans continue to insist to share a state with such people?

It is my view and the view of an increasing number of other noble born people that it is time to end this experiment and to declare the Madhalays (Infertile) Artificial Somali Republic dead once and for all and let nature take its course. Those with history and civilisation will thrive and prosper, and the descendants of bandits and highway robbers will return to the state of the forefathers.

It is usually quite rare to come upon a separatist, in favour of disunity, referencing a verse from a die-hard nationalist, who sacrificed his all for the said cause. Ardent chancers usually try not to muddle their arguments by sticking to the body of work of those of the same inclinations, but not this author. Even harder to reconcile is seeing the sons of perished Dervishes embracing the very causes for which their forefathers fell on the sword.

The thrust of your argument is: Somalia is weak as one, but let us dismember it to be stronger.
A very easy argument to challenge, but I'll come back as time permits. While tempting, but I will not even lance that boil of labelling your fellow citizens 'savages'.

We accept all critique. We will await eagerly

If somaliyee would not balknize in the 50s or the 90s what makes you think the UN will accept such notion now. Change the capital and make a few other changes and make sure the states can semi governed themself scrap the presidency and usher in a councilship democracy in the sense of the europeans way has utterly failed africa

@Abaq if you believe Hawiye and D&M are holding you back I'd suggest you pack your goats and camels and move to Garissa since it has never been under "uncivilised" people with no history, it should be looking like an oasis of development.

It is easy to point fingers and blame one group for Somalias mess but that's just immature.

You know what? Power changes people. I am willing to step forward and acknowledge my temperamental attitude towards the Somali Republic. Alxamdullilah, long live our nation and let the separatist voices be silenced with an iron fist. :banderas:

Let me begin with a hypothesis: could you imagine the U.S being divided along the Mason-Dixon line with Southern States excluded, or Germany being carved up into seven small nations, akin to Slovenia, or Macedonia, with Bavaria standing alone? Or even U.K. being split into four nations with tiny Wales faring on its own? I could not. On the same token, I could not envisage ardu Somal further divided into city States with Hargeysa becoming a satellite colony of Habasha, Baydhaba being swallowed into a greater Oromia, Kismayo under the influence of the Kikuyu neighbours, or Puntland trekking unto the high seas on its own. I could not.

I depart from Dr. Ashโ€™s equilibrium Game theorum: in unitas, we are; of solus, we cease. Reflect on his famous bar encounter of three chaps trying to pull three ladies, two hijabs, and one femme fatale (I am amending it to suit the audience) where if all three go after the femme fetale, there is a high probability none would end up with her whereas if each goes after one, the probability of one going home with the femme fatale is highly increased, ergo the equilibrium theorum. In other words, in unitas, we are; of solus, we cease.

I shall err on the side of brevity on the literary angle, albeit hard to do, for aplenty of material to choose from, there is, but begin with a few verses from an aspiring if dynamic young nationalist poet, Naaleye, who beautifully captures the overarching sentiment, when he opined:

[ ... ]
Nabaradu haddii ay bataan, baanna lala waayo,
Balaayadu haddii ay raagto, laga bogsoon waayo,
Boqol calan hadday yeelatoo, la isu bixi waayo,
Ummadaydu in ay baaba'adaa waa bar kuma taale.

Burca iyo Cadaadiyo Sanaag, Boocamiyo Tuuyo,
Beledweyn, Bulaaliyo Xalxalin, Booramiyo Faafan,
Xeebaha Baraawiyo Nugaal tan iyo Boosaaso,
Badda Xeeligeediyo Jigjiga amase Buuhoodle,
Bixi Duule, Beer iyo Afmadow Baarriyo Qoyta,
Baki iyo Ilaa Buur Xakaba tan iyo Baar Dheere,
Beled Xaawo buuraha Qandala, guriga Bu'aale,
Baydhaba Baradaaliyo Gurracan, tan iyo Buur Dhuubo,
Bannaanada Afmeeriyo Wajeer, Badhan intaa taalla,

Waa bushaaro iyo guul ninkii calaf ku beegaaye.

Somalidaa badan shacbiga mawle iga beeray,
Mar uun bay badhaadhaha aduun saari baalaha e,
Mar uun bay baraarugi, hadday kala boqooleene,
Riyadiyo mar uun ka bixin beelabeelahane,
Been sheegi maayee, waqtigu way badalayaaye.

Another young nationalist roused greater interest in saying:

Allow yaa garabsada xaqee garabka yaa siiya,
War Somali guri ay degtaba gacalo weeyaane,
Allow yaa kuwaa kala gurguri geesta uga saara,
Allow yaa qabiil baa gubaye qarranimo u guura,
Allow yaa is garabsada koley kalama guurtaane.

War guurtida yaa talo gashiyo guud cirroolaba,
Gabannadan ayaa waabiyee gaar wax ugu sheega,
Dan gaaree rag leeyahay Allow yaan u gubin beesha,
Allow yaa is garabsada koley kalama guurtaane.

The old guard Keenadiid, a fine poet, opined at the height of nationalism, in his famous poem โ€˜yaw gar niqid doonaโ€™:

โ€œSomaliya gobanimo waxaa u geeyey leegada e,
Gabaad lagu hirtaa bay noqdeen amase gaashaane,
Nimankaa u guntadayoo xornimo goor walba u taagan,
Iyo kaan la garanayn macnaha yaw garniqi doonaโ€.

In Islam, solidarity is deemed a must, with disunity highly discouraged, where swt instructs:

Whilst ina Abdulle Hassan was no angel, as his Dervishes visited death and destruction upon defenceless nomads, his was considered to have ushered in the birth of Somali nation state to which one would think nubile cadre amongst us would aspire, but no, it is as if they are indoctrinated insofar as bowing to their erstwhile masters, if current hosts, devoid of any form of nationalism. As the old wise man said: โ€˜Caqli darida, fool xumaday kaga dareenโ€™.

With all his ills, he shall remain a founding father.

For the record, I am not in favour of a strong Somali govโ€™t, but a stable nation state with loose configurations, where the citizenry in the States remain the supreme, if ultimate power, and the federal govโ€™t is nominally in name only. I do so, for I do not wish the horrors of yesteryears visited upon the innocent.

Well said brother, its time to end this nightmare

I shall halt there for the eve, and come back to reference fables, economic synergy, bin Rashid of Dubaiโ€™s example of nations dogged by rudderless leaders, al Qasimi of Sharjahโ€™s take of sons squandering fatherโ€™s spoils, and so forth.

Do proceed.
To buttress the argument in favour of unity, let me further add:

But before that, let me reflect: I notice you did not mention Kingdoms including Bilad al Berber, and later became Ajuran in the South, granted these were not just Somalis, but people of various ethnicities of Iranian, Turkish, and Arab extractions, nevertheless, a mention, even in passing, would have lent credibility to your historic narration. This is not to take anything away from other Kingdoms and Sultanates in the region, but yours comes across as if an intentional omission of facts to prop up a weak argument, a form of an intellectual dishonesty on your part, but let us put that down to a blinding, if self-inflicted โ€˜tookhโ€™, which if anything diminishes the core of your argument. Moving along.

To further advance the unity argument, let me revisit the case of the U.S with regards to the eight infamous years of its history prior to 1789 or thereabouts, where each of the then 13 colonies were lead by warlords, serving as a client silos for the European powers, each vying for control and influence in the new world, till the warlords came to the realisation they could no longer defend, or protect against colonial powers, and were better off forging defence alliance against the colonial powers instead of being hunted each on its own. At this time, there was no standing army, central reserves for war efforts, coherent war strategy, or agreed upon authority to assume a leading role, in the event of a war against one, or any of the colonies, and thereby becoming literal paws prime for the hunt. Evident, even though there was an understaning amongst the colonies, warlords neither trusted, nor saw eye to eye as to the greater national interest. Sounds rather familiar in ardu Somal today, does not it?

Fast forward to the era of Dual federalism till the 1900s, where there was little collaboration between the Fed. government and States in the areas of standing army, economy, and policy. Fed. government existed only in name with power concentrated in States. A shift in thinking was introduced, post the 2nd European war, where Cooperative federalism gained momentum with greater collaboration and cooperation between the Fed. government and States, with the national infrastructure, federal taxes, economic growth amongst other initiatives taking centre stage.

Subsequently, by the 1970s or thereabouts, this further led to Creative federalism, where the Great Society progarmme was introduced, with more power now shifting to the Fed. government, and with it, the US rose as [the] supreme global power, or Empire, of economic and military influence in the 20th century.

Now, imagine if the U.S remained apart with the said colonies each seeking own fate, similar to those small nations in S America; how much do you reckon they would have fared vis-a-vis what we now know as the de facto Empire of the century? Eugene Boydโ€™s analyses in American National Government is a good reference for further reading.

In that spirit, now envisage, if you may, where all Somali territories were under a single, if loosely coupled federation; could you imagine the regional power and influence at its behest?

The relevance here is what you might view as a curse, or a weakness in ardu Somal today is an expected part of the process, which under the right leadership, will lead to greater collaboration, cooperation, cohesion, growth, and development. With Fed. States in Somalia taking shape at the moment, and maintaining more power and influence till the Fed. leadership arrives at political maturity and realisation that blunt force is no longer an option, and the old saying โ€˜rag was uu walaalow ku dhaamo la waaโ€™ still rings true.

As Kaarshe reflected:
โ€˜Wanaag baan kuu wadacay,
Warkuna waa kooban yahay,
Wadaaynimo kaama rabo,
Wadhanka annaa iska leh,
Aan kala weydaarannee,
Waraabow maalin wacanโ€™.

Do proceed.

Postscript:
In discussing the fate of the Gulf States, al Qasimi argued, and I am paraphrasing, for this was first printed in Arabic: โ€œMy grand grand father had a camel, his son had a horse, his sonโ€™s son drove an old beater, I drive a Merc, my son drives an Austin Martin, his son will drive a Tesla, and sonโ€™s son most likely will perish in the sand dunes of Arabiaโ€.

Men (with women of course) build nations, their sons and daughters enjoy the fruits of the fatherโ€™s hard labour only for their grandchildren to squander, and in turn their grand grandchildren to lose it all.

See, this is quite befitting in our case, where your (our) grand grand fathers perished at the proverbial alter to rescue you (us) a life of subservience only for you to squander, play lackeys to their erstwhile arch nemesis, from whom they liberated the land, yet here you are advocating for the dissemblance of [that] which they sought to sew together for their future generations to enjoy a life of unity, independence, and self-sufficiency much better than theirs: in other words, a fair chance, in battles of wit and intellect, to joust with their contemporaries elsewhere.

We fell hard on our faces, struggled, lost almost all, but endeavour we must to cross unto other side.

Wa ya lah min 3aar.
