This idea of moving the capital because of its inhabitants is silly. People like @TekNiKo want to move it to Baydhabo assuming they would put up with illegal extensions like Farmaajo did and still take city taxes to pay for a hair transplant :drakelaugh: he will get nails implanted on his head by RRA hordes

Don't mistreat the good offices of reer Muqdisho, they have been very patient. There is a need for a Benadir federal state to keep the security in check and not allow the militarization that Farmaajo is attempting. The Federal Government's powers should only supplement and build on an existing structure of the city.
It worked well under AY and was fairly successful, we should give them a chance. Hawiye has lost all trust of Somalis and shall never hold political good will again.

The capital of Somalia does not really matter as much as it used to. Mogadishu lost the economic relevance it had for most of the country 30 years ago. It still matters for Hawiye and D&M, but it is economically isolated from Jubaland, Puntland and Somaliland. It might even decline further in economic relevance for the D&M if they manage to build a port and airport at Barawe.

Mogadishu will always be the political capital, but Somalia will now resemble the US rather than center heavy France, UK or Japan. Somalia will become a country with multiple economic hubs. The Hawiye will have a huge advantage though as they will staff the federal government at all levels below the minister or his assistant.

Barawe is HG territory.

This would have been done already in the early 2000s or late 90s if it was a viable option, not in 2021 when a lot of capital has already gone into developing the city.

Why not dividing the capital's responsibility through multiple cities. Hargeisa can be the financial capital, garowe the home for the supreme court, galmadug get's the military, etc. This way everyone is a major stake holder. This is one way of curbing al shabaab taking the capital away from their grasp. I would even like more if hargeisa becomes the capital custodian for the next decade. There is no shabaab there we can then focus on the corruption instead.

Reminder to NN fans boys : the true stakeholders, elders, clans, civil societies, business communities that contributed, established & built the current SFG long ago put all agreements made into law = SFG constitution making change of capital unconstitutional....since your people were absent from all shirs never contributed anything i understand the ignorance👍🏾

All groups part of NN coalition should be grateful reer Benadir contributed their taxes and blood to fund/help build institutions & development in their tuulos from shirka Carta 2000 to this day before demanding capital moved to those suggested towns!

ciyaarta naga daaya what did Luuq/Ceerigaabo/Marka contribute to earn capital status :umad:

We'll do reer Benaadir a bigger favour by moving the capital.

Their properties won't lose that much value.

Xamar could be our little Lagos but we need a different Abuja.

Lol what investments? They still haven't modernized the sewage infrastructure.

Too many interests involved in Xamar.

We're better of with a blank slate.

Compare Xamar in 2011 to it now, a lot of money has gone into it.

Where is this mythical new capital that will solve our problems? 3 of the towns you listed as potential replacements are in an area that don't want to rejoin Somalia let alone host the capital.

the current borders are so thin and naturally unprotected that any capital can easily be captured by foreign forces. anywhere you choose its a stones throw from bab el mandeb or gulf of aden or ethiopia or kenya.

According to the loud minority.

Majority of Landers could be convinced to rejoin us as long as they're not governed from Xamar.

I prefer an undeveloped location over a established city thought. Less interests involved. We're free to redesign however we like.

And Somalia is mostly flatland anyway which makes it easy for land forces to just roll in.

Hobyo is a good idea. As long as we keep out any non-Somalis from Galmudug. Wouldn’t want us turning into Oromo/Bantu states like the North and South.

If the so called SFG only controls Xamar and that Xamar is majority Hawiye then surely only Hawiye should be president of Somalia. Under HSM or Sheikh Sharif there would never be a threat of civil conflict in Mogadishu (tribalist Darods would call it chimping out)

Poll on where to move the capital to.

Bombadishu is too polarizing.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. We need a brand new chartered city.

Maybe use existing cities on a rolling basis every 20 years so enough developments gets distributed equally?

Comment below for any other city not listed.
Not anywhere in Somaliland

I voted for ceerigabo. It’s also a mixed city and strategically located. A capital in ceerigabo can get issaq on board with midnimo again, ofcourse this is hypothetical and is looking from a viewpoint where Somalia doesn’t balkanise
It isn't mixed you know any more. That was pre 1988. Now it's fully isaaq

Even if Hargeisa was the capital and Muse bixi the president Somalilanders will never accept it.
