Thoughts on wigs

Somali people usually have negative opinions on wigs and I wanna know why?

I think weaves/wigs that are worn constantly are weird and a sign of low self esteem. But the occasional wig/extensions are okay to me as long as you love and embrace your natural hair. And synthetic hair/cheap wigs are ugly asf, only real human hair looks good imo. I’ve seen extensions that look like yarn too lool

And it’s absolutely DISGUSTING when girls wear wigs/weaves for more than a few weeks. I had classmates that wore the same weave for entire semesters and they got offended when I asked when they would change their weave.

Are there any somali girls that tried a wig/weave on? I want to buy a really curly one like this (real hair) cause my curls aren’t that tight but I think my hoyo would kill me.

Or a short wig cause I’m too scared to cut my hair short.

Not a fan of wigs or extensions. But Wigs look good on some women. It's just not something for me. Also we believe it's haram.

I never cut my hair besides trims so I’m too anxious about hating it post-cut. I will one day inshallah cause that length looks beautiful! Thank you

God gave us Xalimos beautiful hair. I don’t understand why a Somali girl would wear a wig?

I agree alhamdulillah but you never wanted to try something new with your hair? My hair isn’t as curly as I’d like it to be and I don’t want to damage my hair with a curling iron.

Oh so you have that Hindi hair lol. I sometimes wish my hair was nice and straight. My hair is curly like the wig above.

You can put on some heat protectant and curl your hair if you want. I do that when I straighten my hair, no damage. It curls up again perfectly when I put water in it.

Putting on a wig will make people think you have Madow hair. Nothing wrong with Madow hair though.

Don’t let these haters discourage you. I have clip in extensions that I wear sometimes if I want my hair long. It’s human hair and expensive asf but it looks amazing. That’s the thing with wigs/weave/extensions, human hair is always more expensive but actually looks real if worn correctly. Watch YouTube vids and if you like a certain hair, the YouTube probably has it linked in the description.

I tried extentiins once i loved it lol people thought it was my hair when i went to a wedding with it. I wont do extentiins again because it made my hair fall out. I wanna try wigs soon. I watch wig vids online they look so natural i dont know how they do it.

Weaves stink

I love my hair straightened but I don’t do it often because it will damage my hair. I want to buy a wig so I don’t have to damage my natural hair and still switch up my hair from time to time, I’m going for a 14inch black wig which if put on correctly, can pass off as my real hair straightened. I’m personally not a fan of those blond 40 inch wigs that alot of black/Somali girl get.

Haraam

I was on board with them until someone told me wearing wigs destroyed their edges and ripped their baby hairs off now i'm kinda hesitant about trying them but they seem to be the "in" thing rn and the curly ones look pretty af so I might have to try one for a special occasion look some time.

The only time I praise an african woman is when she has her natural hair in short cute cuts or grows to a big afro. And they look naturally sexy in that look. Weaves say something about an inferiority complex. They shouldn't let beauty be decided through biased and racial eyes. Natural looks are always dignified more than fake ones. Everyone should be themselves.

Yeah I wouldn’t wear them often cause I can’t imagine being edgeless lool did you see doja cat without a wig on IG live? She lost all her edges

I don’t want my baby hairs to get to that stage so I won’t wear them often but once in a while can’t be that bad
