Seen this on amazon, is it worth anything reading?
I'm afraid to waste 24 quid on a mere 346 page book.

Just listen to Qaaraami music and Dhaanto to learn proper Somali. You can figure out the meaning of most words using context, granted you're not full blown hooyo mataalo.

I can understand day to day somali. My speaking is a bit off but I find that if I read it out I'm pretty decent. I just can't really form sentences in my head like that yet.

I've had random people come up to me on the streets and speak af Somali and I can understand what they're trying to tell me but I respond in English.

damn that's terrible, no offense.
In that case, this book or any book for that matter will be useless. Save up a bit and go to jabuuti for 3 months. You'll be back 1000% better since you'll be forced to communicated in af soomaali the whole time.

I've noticed this is more in common in the UK/USA/Canada, the parents speak English at home and the children suffer in the future.

I learnt Habashi and Oromo due to my time in Addis as a child but thankfully that shit wore off quick due to English, I always spoke Somali with my Macooyo.
