Hooyo is hooyo. Even if she’s emotionally unavailable or not comforting. This gen needs to understand the effects war, being refugees and adjusting to so many other changes has had on parents. Why do we expect compassion but lack to see they also deserve it from us?

I totally agree, but what many forget is that compassion, akhlaaq and all the things needed for a child to be baari is taught by the parents themselves. It’s strange that Somalis expects kids to still come out fine in the face of neglect and emotional instability.
Good kids with manners are taught it by their parents.

I often look at kids like that to reflect on how I hope my parenting will be like in the future would be like if Allah blesses me with kids.
