This kid seems very serious with his goal of reconstructing some sites of saylac

I can only hope to do something similar someday mashallah. I'm suprised at his dedication because all governmental are useless and that must be hard to deal with

check his channel he posts what exactly he wants it to look like
I only see masjid qiblateyn and that famous ruin

This building is probably not even that old tbh, at best its as old as sharmarke

Everything historical in zeila was either demolished by colonials or shelled during the civil war, and ofc theres the medieval city which is completely submerged

Most of saylac in the 19thc was actually caarish, and by the time burton visited the walls had holes and were crumbling, so i doubt anything are left of them, he needs to know this before doing all this, only masjid qiblateyn is worth saving

I seen in a fob video how they store important books (potentially manuscripts?) and other stuff they want to protect in this small thing, can you ask him to chekc this out

Not sure about reconstructing. We need professionals for that. That is too precious for an amateur with a dream to touch. We don't want a Zahi Hawass wannabe to then start touching up on every archeological space since there is no regulation and no one to check these people.

Mentioned this a bit in another thread Nurudin Hagi spoke about the need to create an Institute for Conservation and Restoration to restore Hamar Weyne

II feel the same needs to be done with Berbera and Zayla or other historic settlements, it has to be approached professionally. Unfortunately, some amateur Somali archaeologists have already damaged parts of our heritage by digging up artifacts without proper academic documentation. As a result, a lot of what’s been found isn’t verifiable or presentable.
