She should keep her fake pity to herself. Why do people assume old people who are alone are sad?

I don't know about other countries, but here in the Nordic countries all elders are lonely, they are dumped in retirement homes and never seen. Their children hardly give them money and they are usually very poor and live on their own savings and government support.

Some are while a good number are not happy. What bothers them most is that their own children don't even look after them. They never come to visit their parents, and if they do, it is only once a year. They completely forget about them and only show up at their funeral.
