please do it, it's a great hobby and insha'Allah will increase your love for the Arabic language... don't let anyone discourage you, Arabic is essential for seeking Islamic knowledge

I also want to mention something.... I think many Muslims struggle with this mindset of "yes I'm a Muslim but I am of such-and-such culture NOT AN ARAB" and they have this dislike of Arab culture.....

I am not saying you can't be proud of your culture and love you culture.....

but imo you should be enthusiastic about Arab culture and take an interest in Arab culture and the Arab world..... why?

because I believe it makes it easier to learn Arabic which you need in order to study your din....

if you hate Italian culture and you resent Italian culture- how would you be motivated in learning Italian? or you hate French culture and you want to learn French? If you hate Russian culture, how will you excel as a study of Russian language?

for your own sake, I think you should be enthusiastic about Arab culture so that you are enthusiastic about the language and you reach your full potential as a student of Arabic... it isn't as though learning about another language and culture will make you forget your own language and culture... you simply add to what you already know
