OPINION These leaders are the clear victors

Reborn
I've never really been interested in Somali internal politics as it never concerned me. However, browsing through threads here and on twitter, the conclusion that I can come up with is Somalia's politics is a headache :mjcry:

How do you have the city this meeting that is taken place getting rained with mortar? It's 2021 :ohlord:

when it comes to reality, it won't matter who you support. Ninkii reeya reerka u hadhi sxb.

I'll make it simple, there are essentially only two teams competing. And they are divided based on afkaar (ideology)

Either you support the blue or the red no gray area here.

I applaud these brilliant leaders for having a dialogue and working hard behind the scenes to put the country on the right path. I hope that president Deni and Madobe along with the representative of the opposition also join in to have their voices and concerns heard. We will figure this out together :)

So Farmaajos greatest achievement according to his most ardent supporters is asking ppl to stand up when he enters the room and sitting at the head of the table.
:drakekidding: :deadrose:
I also agree that is his greatest achievement, because the fool hasnt kept even one of his promises.
-no 1m1v
-al shabaab hasnt been defeated as he promised
-Muqdisho isnt secured like he promised.
-He hasnt united the country even though the idiot said it was his most important goal.

So in the end he hasn't done anything meaningful for our country and asking ppl to stand up and sitting at the head of the table is his legacy and greatest achievement.

Bravo mr. President!!!

The 'opposition' are only deni and madoobe, the aspirants are not stakeholders and thus can't take part in this sort of conference since they don't represent the FGS or FMS.

But just a few hours ago there a meeting between the FGS Leadership and 3 of the FMS members that are in town right now.

There won’t be an extension. The IC wants this election to go ahead and Farmaajo knows (13 governors in Benadir is his hedge). He’ll be back for another term.

Everyone with no ulterior motives including the IC, majority of the FMS and the PM//President don't want an extension and would have preferred for the elections to be on track.

But the reality is Deni and Madoobe refused to send their electoral commission for a long while until the IC pressured them to do it last week. If they didn't send their commission then it would be a 'partial election' which is in no ones interest but since they know the President has a large support base they are dragging their feet.

Which is why this conference will most likely end in an extension and new electoral time table.

I agree sxb, we have to have the election on time and be over with it. It’s time consuming and exhausting. May the best man win and continue to keep that train on the right track towards progress cho choooo :)

Check out this analysis by this professor it explains a great deal as to why some of the so-called 'opposition' are dragging their feet to take part in the election.

For context he was responding to this question:

Makes sense why the opposition is pushing for an extension then.

I find it interesting Kheyre even though he is among the Opposition candidates, never seems to attack Farmaajo directly in his speeches.

The oppositional aspirants are not united based on ideology or principles they are united by convenience. Kheyre is in a different boat compared to the rest since he was apart of the admin for 3.5 years and is a shrewd operator to boot, I have my theories as to why he has been silent but I will save it for another time to divulge.

PL and JL attending this conference will be a win for the government either way you slice it and legitimizes whatever comes out and if they would boycott they would be spoilers. No one wants a partial decision this late in the game, it'll be an interesting communiquΓ©.

Sahan group ThinkTank employees have already started their propaganda to throw dirt on this conference before it even starts
