Somali youth in the West for some reason don't see themselves as part of the civilised society hence they don't care about how they present themselves in front of non Somalis.

If we expose our youth to more cultures outside of ours (I.e integrate more in the West); would that help and would they still keep their own culture intact in the end?

Really don't know the solution for this as there are plenty of segregated communities who have kids that don't chimp out whenever they're parents aren't around.

A kid becomes how he/she was raised. Instead of corporal punishment or screaming at them with insults as a quick solution which most Somali parents resort to because of the demands of raising a large family of many kids, the benefits of having fewer children is that you can teach them issues of respect, good behaviour and discipline without lifting a finger against them. Monitor the anger issues of young Somalis on social media, they’ve deep-seated anger management issues and will swear and cuss one another like drunk Irish men. We are more prone to violence because of our anger and lack the skills in defusing sticky situations. It all boils down to our upbringing of being reared with violence (physical or mentally) and presumed that it delivers respect and obedience. These kids came from that background.

My parents always were worried about Somalis. Somalis are like sheep if they see you doing something good all of them will come and do it too. Alxamdulilah I don't live in Minnesota and the Somali population here is small enough that we rarely make problems
